Vi é mai capitato di innamorarvi a prima vista? Non parlo di amore tra persone ovviamente, ma di un luogo.. un posto lontano, sognato e visto in guide e foto durante la preparazione di un viaggio o più semplicemente scovato per caso durante una ricerca sul web?
Mentre preparavo il mio On The Road nella West Coast del 2010 mi sono documentata tantissimo: era il mio primo tour on the road e volevo fosse perfetto. Così da un piccolo itinerario buttato giù per caso ho iniziato a leggere guide, diari di viaggio, notizie sui vari siti internet e mi sono ritrovata dopo 1 anno con un programma di viaggio perfetto! (si, per una volta non sarò modesta :D ). Durante la preparazione non vedevo l’ora andare in tutti quei posti segnati,sognati e studiati, ma solo due erano quelli che non volevo perdermi per nessuna ragione al mondo.. ed uno era proprio Horseshoe Bend.
Si tratta di un belvedere a picco su uno dei meandri del Colorado, non lontano da Page in Arizona.
L’emozione che ho avuto quando ho percorso quei 10-15 minuti a piedi nel sentiero che mi ha portato al bordo di questa falesia dove il Colorado si snoda intorno ad un grosso spuntone roccioso é indescrivibile; ero estasiata dalla bellezza che la Terra é capace di regalarci (e che tante,troppe volte sottovalutiamo).
Ho osservato a lungo il sole tramontare, ho scattato tante fotografie, mi sono persa in tanta bellezza, mi sono fermata a pensare a quanto ero fortunata ed essere lí e mi sono commossa .. Si, mi sono commossa perché io una cosa così bella non l’ho mai vista!
A distanza di 4 anni i miei occhi sono ancora pieni di quelle immagini e di quelle emozioni e non riesco nemmeno a descrivere a parole quanto sia spettacolare quel posto.. emozioni che sono lí come se fossero tatuate nel mio cuore.
Ho deciso di far parlare le mie foto che, purtroppo, non rendono giustizia ad un luogo così bello.

Do you ever fall in love at first sight? I don’t speak of love between people of course, but love for a place .. a place so far, dreamed and saw in guides and photos while preparing a trip or simply discovered by chance during a search on the web?
As I was preparing my On The Road to the West Coast in 2010, I documented myself a lot: it was my first tour on the road and I wanted it to be perfect. So, from a small sketch route I started reading guides, travel diaries, news on websites and I finished to have, after a year, a perfect travel plan! (yes, for once I will not be modest :D ). During the preparation I couldn’t wait to go to all those places marked, dreamed and studied, but only two of them were the ones that I didn’t want to miss for anything in the world .. and one was just Horseshoe Bend.
It is a belvedere overlooking the Colorado, near Page, Arizona.
The thrills I got when I walked for 10-15 minute in the path that led me to the edge of this cliff were undescribable; I was entranced by the beauty that the Earth give to us (and many, many times we underestimate) .
I’ve observed the sunset, I took many photos, I was lost in such beauty, I stopped to think about how lucky I was to be there, and I was moved .. Yes!! I was moved because that was the most beautiful thing i’ve ever seen!
After 4 years my eyes are still full of those images and emotions and I can not even describe in words how spectacular this place is… emotions that are in my heart like a tattoo.
I decided to talk with my pictures, which unfortunately doesn’t do justice to a beautiful place.
