No dear friends o' mine, Marimekko it's not  a japanese brand making funny dolls! Marimekko is a scandinavian brand
founded in 1951.Creativity has indeed always been central in Marimekko's activity, and new artists are invited each year to propose new designs. Meanwhile, the catalogue also offers former patterns from the 1950s up until today, which objective is less to follow fashion as to develop a timeless aesthetic.So that's way we find most of the dress so modern and at the same time so retro.Marimekko attaches great importance to the manufacturing quality of its products, and still today, all Marimekko bags and Marimekko fabrics are manufactured in Marimekko's own factories located in Finland.The international reputation of Marimekko was born in 1960: the year when Jackie Kennedy wore several Marimekko dresses during the presidential campaign of her husband, wich gave the brand a sudden and huge media coverage (discover the history of Marimekko in a few dates). After the death of its founder Armi Ratia, in 1979, the company almost disappeared before being bought in 1991 by Kirsti Paakkanen.The company counts more than fifty concept stores all around the world (USA, Japan, UK, Germany, etc.), and hundreds of private retailers.I'm totally in love with this brand, I had a chance to visit a Marimekko store in London, where the dress with the amazing fabrick, and also the nice things for kitchen and bathroom, mug and other stuff, and purse and jewel, all is adorable.The price is not cheap of course, but still affordable (maybe with sale!!!!)
No amiche mie, Maimekko non è un brand giapponese con buffe bamboline!!E' un brand scandinavo nato nel 1951, in cui la creatività è posta al centro dell'attenzione, e i nuovi Artisti sono pungolati a cercare nuovi spunti e nuovi tessuti per le nuove collezioni, pero è anche vero che nei cataloghi si trovano ancora they modelli senza tempo presi dalle collezioni degli anni '50. E' per questo che che la maggior parte degli abiti hanno un sapore così moderno e insieme così retrò.Marimekko tiene in grande considerazione la qualità del prodotto, che è fabbricato interamenete in Finlandia.La reputazione del brand è cresciuto soprattutto durante gli anni '60, anni in cui l'elegantissima Jackie Kennedy moglie del presidente, veste spesso abiti della maison, dandogli fama e risonanza mediatica.Dopo la morte del fondatore Armi Ratia Marimekko ha una battuta d'arresto, per poi riprendersi nel 1991 sotto la direzione di Kirsti Paakkanen, con l'apertuta di store il tutto il mondo, (Usa, Giappone,UK, Germany, ecc)Sono innamoratissima di questo brand, l'ho conosciuto a Londra nel suo negozio monomarca, dove ho trovato abiti ma anche accessori per la cucina, il bagno, Tazze e gioielli, tutto bellissimo!!Il prezzo non è bassissimo,ovviamente, ma affrontabile, magari nei saldi!!
