Blog Tour – Review: Prophecy of the Most Beautiful by Diantha Jones

diantha jones - banner Eccomi qui oggi con una nuova mini-recensione e tutte le informazioni su un libro che mi è molto piaciuto (in lingua inglese): Prophecy of the Most Beautiful scritto da Diantha Jones. Mi ha stregato fin dalla copertina, con questi colori brillanti e i segni zodiacali in sfondo, per non parlare della sensazione di magia che fa sì che la copertina “buchi” lo schermo. Diciamo che ho accettato di leggerlo per questi motivi: meravigliosa copertina (cliccate sull’immagine sotto per ingrandirla e poi mi direte), paranormal YA, Miti Greci. Sembra poco ma non lo è e, ammetto, vale la pena faticare un pò di più per la lingua e leggerlo! Ecco le mie impressioni, ma prima la trama e la copertina.

After a vicious attack and learning that her favorite rockstar is an Olympian god, she is thrust into her new life as the Oracle of Delphi, the prophesier of the future. Setting out to fulfill the prophecy she has been given, Chloe learns of how great she is to become, all the while fighting mythical monsters and trying to outwit the ever-cunning Greek gods who harbor secrets of their own. While on a mission to discover the Most Beautiful, she strives to uncover the mysteries of the demigod Prince who has sworn to protect her with his life…and threatens to win her heart in the process.

Che Chloe fosse una persona “speciale” lo si intuisce da subito: sente voci nella mente e ha costanti allucinazioni. Ma ciò non è dovuto ad una malattia mentale, bensì al fatto che lei è un Oracolo al quale è affidata la realizzazione di una predizione: La Profezia della Più Bella. Per portare a termine questo compito dovrà – come prima cosa – scoprire un mondo che si cela sotto quello che noi tutti conosciamo, fatto di Dei (come la sua rockstar preferita) e semi-dei come Strafford Law, principe e suo protettore.

Ad un primo sguardo potreste trovare somiglianze con la saga di Percy Jackson ma vi garantisco che l’ambientazione, costruita magistralmente dall’autrice, è del tutto originale così come la missione (prima di una trilogia) che la protagonista dovrà compiere. Anche il target di riferimento è leggermente più elevato d’età e contiene una love story fatta di momenti di romanticismo ma anche di dialoghi divertenti e stuzzicanti.

Se l’inizio potrebbe sembrare un pò lento, poi Dianta Jones fa in modo che la storia prenda un’accelerata per poi interrompersi con un cliff-hanger terribile. Premetto che le interruzioni sul più bello non mi dispiacciono, però avviso i lettori più “sensibili” che almeno così si preparano per tempo!

Nel complesso, un libro che ho apprezzato nonostante qualche difficoltà con la traduzione di alcuni termini particolari che dall’inglese all’italiano non sono stati proprio immediati. Una lettura, comunque che consiglio assolutamente agli amanti del Paranormal Romance YA e a chi, come me, adora i miti greci.

To accomplish this task must – first and foremost – discover a world that lies beneath what we all know, the fact tat Gods (as her favorite rock star) and demi-gods as Strafford Law, the prince and his protector, exists

At first glance you might find similarities with the saga of Percy Jackson but I guarantee you that the setting, masterfully constructed by the author, is completely original as well as the mission (the first of a trilogy) that the protagonist will have to make. The target audience is slightly higher age and contains a love story made up of moments of romance but also funny dialogues and appetizing.
If the beginning it might seem a bit slow, then Dianta Jones makes sure that the story takes an acceleration and then stops with an incredible cliff-hanger. I state that breaks the most beautiful I do not mind, but alert readers more “sensitive” or so, that it is time to prepare!

Overall, a book which I enjoyed despite some difficulties with the translation of some particular terms from English into Italian that were not just immediate ( but this is my problem, it doesn’t concern the book). A reading, however, that I absolutely recommend to lovers of YA Paranormal Romance and who, like me, loves the Greek myths.
