RECENSIONE Un romanzo autobiografico che colpisce al cuore non solo di chi possiede un cavallo, ma anche di chi non sa cosa significhi il rapporto che si forma tra uomo/equino. Lay me Down è una cavalla riscattata da un maltrattamento e da una possibile morte e Susan una donna disperata. Due cuori che si incontrano e si curano a vicenda. Un ulteriore equino che si unisce agli altri suoi tre cavalli, non felici di accoglierla inizialmente, per poi arrivare a una scissione. Ho letto a tratti quando ho scoperto che alla cavalla viene diagnosticato un tumore al cervello che non le darà scampo. Mentre Susan scopre nuovamente la forza di fidarsi nell’amore, dopo un tragico divorzio e un passato da dimenticare, la cavalla le insegna la dignità nel dolore. La curerà, senza alcuna speranza, e la seguirà fino ai suoi ultimi giorni…” I tought most rescued animals exhibited signs of gratitude, an awareness of having been saved from suffering or death, and their gratitude was expressed in a particulary open affection”..questo è uno dei primi romanzi americani in cui il cavallo non è un contorno alla storia narrata, ma è la STORIA.
