Da cosa dipende il nostro giudizio quando diciamo che una città è bella? L'architettura? Ma certo. La gente? senz'altro. Lo stile di vita? Senza dubbio. La sua storia? E' naturale. L'atmosfera? Prima di tutto.
Eppure... bastano da sole? Basta un bel monumento per far bella una città?O le persone simpatiche?O il clima rilassato? O le antichità? Mmh.
E allora? Cosa fa di una luogho, una bel luogo? Ma è ovvio: i dettagli.
What determines our judgment when we say that a city is beautiful? The architecture? But of course. People? certainly. The lifestyle? Without a doubt. Its history? it is natural. The atmosphere? First of all.
Nevertheless ... are sufficient in themselves? is it enough a beautiful monument to have a beautiful city? is nice people? or is the relaxed atmosphere? Or antiquities? Hmm.

So what? What makes a place, a beautiful place? But it is obvious: its details.

E ogni luogo o città ha i suoi. Parigi, per esempio, sembra voler collezionare tetti e balconi meravigliosi. Londra invece ama giocare sui contrasti. New York sui riflessi. Ed ognuno ne vede di differenti, infondo.
La Grecia punta senz'altro sul colore. E non su colori qualsiasi.

And every place or city has its own. Paris, for example, seems it'd collect wonderful roofs and balconies. London, instead, loves to play on contrasts. New York on reflexes. And everyone sees different details, actually.
Greece, certainly, invests in color. And not on any color.

Il contrasto bianco/blu viene giocato soprattutto sugli infissi. I muri candidi sono d'obbligo e porte e finestre blu e azzurre sono di rigore. Talvolta capita di vedere qualche porta anticonformista rossa o verde, ma restando su una gamma cromatica molto uniforme. Che dire: dettagli.
The contrast white / blue is played mainly on doors and windows. The white walls are a must and the blue and light blue fixtures are de rigueur. Sometimes you see some unconventional red or green door, but they still maintain a very uniform color range. What can I say: details.

In queste fotografie non si fa, ovviamente, un catalogo delle porte serifiote. Il gioco, qui, è basato sulle linee che compongono l'immagine, le forme che si articolano all'interno e sfruttano il taglio rettangolare dell'immagine.

These photographs aren't, of course, a catalog of doors in Serifos. The fun here is based on the lines that make up the image, the forms that are articulated in and that take advantage of rectangular image cutting.

Infine la porta è una delle cose che fanno più "casa" in assoluto. La storia che raccontano non è solo quella del luogo, della città. E' la storia di chi l'ha oltrepassata tutti i giorni, di chi ci ha vissuto. E' il legame tra il dentro del proprio rifugio familiare e il fuori del resto del mondo.
