#events: Chapeau Madame! (Cappelli di altri tempi a Palazzo Madama)

Non sono mai stata una grande studiosa, ma almeno quello che non mi manca è la curiosità. E la storia è uno di quegli aspetti talmente affascinante che non passa inosservato. Quando si tratta di mostre, musei, film o serie tv storici, biografie, ecc… non mi tiro mai indietro. Scoprire come si viveva un tempo, come la gente reagiva ai vari cambiamenti, stupirsi ogni volta per l’assurdità di certe usanze, … una delle cose per cui vale la pena vivere!!

Torino. Piazza Castell0. Ore 18. Un gruppo di donne, soprattutto dai 50 anni in su, chiacchierano tra di loro e quasi tutte portano un cappello in testa. Sono eleganti, chiccose e perfettamente a loro agio tra fotografi e occhi curiosi. Si capisce che sono donne di altri tempi, di quella Torino Bene che oggi non c’è più, o quasi. Abituate alle chiacchiere mondane, alle luci, alla gente e felici di avere l’occasione per ricordare quell’atmosfera perduta. Ci sono anche donne più giovani, amanti della moda e curiose di tempi mai vissuti.

Martedì 25 marzo è stato come fare un tuffo nel passato. Mi sentivo un po’ come Lady Sybil di Downton Abbey (fine a parte). Curiosa e desiderosa di scoprire il mondo. L’inaugurazione della mostra CHAPEAU MADAME, presente nella Sala dei Tessuti a Palazzo Madama, Torino, ha assistito a una vera e propria sfilata di cappelli di ogni tipo, forma, epoca.

Dalle cloche Anni ’20 ai volumi tipici di Elsa Schiapparelli nei ’30. E poi le piume, le velette (tornate recentemente di moda) fino ai balon di pelliccia. Non dimentichiamo i cappelli fatti in tempo di guerra, realizzati con materiali poveri. Questi e altri sono i protagonisti di questa stupenda esposizione, provenienti dal Liceo Artistico e Musicale Passoni, Torino. Non possono mancare gli utensili con i quali gli artigiani davano vita alle loro creazioni, come anche qualche vestito e accessorio a rendere ancora più affascinante questo incredibile viaggio nel tempo.

Ma torniamo all’atmosfera della serata, che è stata la ciliegina sulla torta, il valore aggiunto a rendere l’evento perfetto. Le signore presenti erano una più bella dell’altra, lo sguardo luminoso, felice. Quella piccola mostra (una stanza soltanto) era infatti molto di più. Rappresentava un ricordo lontano, ma ancora ben vivido nella mente. Ho avuto l’occasione di parlare con alcune di loro e scoprire pezzi di storia, che porterò sempre con me. Un’ex modella, ancora incredibilmente bella, affascinante nel suo tailleur bianco, con la pelliccia appoggiata sulle spalle e in testa il modello cult da uomo del celebre marchio Borsalino, ricordava i tempi delle sfilate e descriveva la sua collezione di cappelli. Un’altra “Madame”, stilosissima nel suo cappotto pied de poule e cappello con veletta. Io ho avuto il piacere di godermi la mostra insieme a una signora che a suo tempo lavorava all’ufficio marketing per la prestigiosa boutique torinese San Lorenzo (a proposito, meraviglioso l’abito da cocktail esposto in sala, con stampa animale, innovativa all’epoca e del tutto attuale ora), paragonabile, per qualità, stile e prezzo, alla Maison Armani. “Le signore milanesi erano le più difficili da conquistare. Loro volevano lo sfarzo e trovavano i nostri vestiti troppo sobri, per le loro linee così pulite. Quelle meridionali invece erano le clienti migliori!”.

Lo scopo della mostra è proprio questo. Mostrare e raccontare la storia, attraverso oggetti dell’epoca e testimonianze di chi quell’epoca l’ha assaporata. L’esposizione resterà aperta fino al 01/03/2015. Ingresso compreso nel biglietto del museo. Per info: http://www.palazzomadamatorino.it/.

I’m not a really studious person, but I’ve always been very curious. History is a very fascinating aspect of life. I never say no to museums, expos, historic films or tv series, biographies, etc…Discovering how people lived in the past, how they reacted to changes, bein amazed for certain customs, … that’s what you can live for!!

Turin. Piazza Castell0. 18PM. A group of women, especially from 50s, are chatting and almost all of them wear a hat. They look elegant, chic nad perfectly comfortable with photographers and curious eyes. It’s clear they have lived in another age, in that Noble Turin which today doesn’t (almost) exist anymore. They are used to elite chatting and people and happy for having the opportunity to remember those lost times. They are also younger women, fashion lovers and curious about never lived days.

On Tuesday 25th March it was like diving into the past. I was like Lady Sybil from Downton Abbey (except for the end), curious about the world. The opening of the exhibition CHAPEAU MADAME took place at Palazzo Madama, in Turin, and was a real hats show (any type, shape, age).

Cloches from the 20s to Elsa Schiapparelli’s typical volumes in the 30s. Then, feathers, veils (which are in again) and fur hats. But also hats of war time, made with poor materials. These and more have played the key role in this beautiful expo, as gift from the Liceo Passoni (music and art high school in Turin). Even several tools used by artisans for giving life to their creations, or some original dresses and accessories, making this time travel more interesting and incredible.

Let’s go back again to the atmosphere, the cherry on top making this event perfect. The ladies were very beautiful, with shining and happy eyes. That little exhibition (one room only) was for them much more. It represented a far, but still vivid, memory. I had the chance to speak with some of them and discover pieces of history that will stay forever in my heart. There was an ex model, still incredibly gorgeous, in a white suit, with a fur coat on her shoulders. She was wearing the cult man model of Borsalino (the famous brand from Turin, which gave the name to fedoras) and remembering fashion shows times and her hats collection. Another “Madame” looked very stylish in pied de poule coat and hat with veil. I had the pleasure to see the exhibition together with a woman who worked as press agent for San Lorenzo (speaking of, the cocktail dress at the expo, with animal print, today very fashionable but at the time really original), the prestigious fashion boutique in Turin (you can compare it to Maison Armani, for quality, style and price. She remembered: “The ladies from Milan were the most difficult ones. They wanted splendor and found our clothes, for their clean lines, too sober. Instead, the women from the South were the best clients!” .

This is the purpouse of this exhibition. Showing and telling the history, with original objects and testimonies. The expo will be open until 1st March 2015. The entry is enclosed in the museum ticket. For infos: http://www.palazzomadamatorino.it/.
