Fiè allo sciliar and Castello di Presole, Trentino Alto Adige

The region of Trentino is full of the nice places, both in the summer and the winter. I have suggested you to visit Castelrotto village in a last post. I would suggest you now one more village as a destination to spend a week in summer and in winter: Fiè allo Sciliar.
Its size is smaller than Castelrotto, but you must go through Fiè to attend one of the most beautiful castles in Trentino Alto Adige: the castle of Presole.
This castle -  which dates back to 1517-  is an example of the Gothic art. Its origins are maybe in the XIII century, when the Lords of Fiè began the excavation of the foundations. The Colonna family was a  significant presence in the castle until 1804. They  improved this structure. There were many domains after them.  
Some tales are linked to the castle. They tell about the dark periods and they bring back the castle to the inquisition age. Ten women were brought here and were accused of witchcraft. They were burnt in front of the castle. Now there are the concerts , the exhibitions and the guided tours in the castles: an interesting opportunity for the visitors to relive a part of the history of this land.
Starting from Fie allo Sciliar, we meet a lake of the same name, the lake Fiè. A legend hovers about it, this was a place of some propitiatory rites in the past. Today it is a pleasant and quiet lakeside town surrounded by the fir trees.

castello di Presole

Il Trentino è ricco di località piacevoli sia in estate che in inverno. Vi avevo suggerito in un post Castelrotto. Vorrei suggerirvi un altro paese come meta in cui trascorrere una settimana sia in estate che in inverno:Fiè allo Sciliar. La sua estensione è minore di quella di Castelrotto, ma da Fiè si deve transitare per recarsi ad uno dei più bei castelli del Trentino Alto Adige: il castello di Presole. Questo  castello, che risale al 1517, è un esempio di arte gotica; le sue origini sembrano comunque risalire al 1200, quando i Signori di Fiè ne iniziarono lo scavo delle fondamenta.  La famiglia Colonna fu un’ importante presenza  nel castello fino al 1804, migliorandone la struttura;  in seguito vi si alternarono molteplici domini.  Sono legate al castello delle storie che narrano di periodi bui e riportano il castello al periodo dell’ inquisizione. Pare infatti che dieci donne fossero qui condotte ed accusate di stregoneria furono bruciate davanti al castello. Il castello è attualmente sede di concerti mostre e visite guidate: un’ interessante possibilità per il visitatore di rivivere un periodo della storia di queste terre. Partendo da Fìè verso l’altipiano dello Sciliar, s’incontra l’omonimo laghetto di Fiè: su esso aleggia la leggenda che nel passato fosse  luogo di riti propiziatori. Oggi è una gradevole e tranquilla località lacustre circondata da abeti. Ci vendiamo a Fiè?
