Marquez un leone, le Honda dominano, tutti gli altri inseguono
Avevamo lasciato i nostri campioni alla fine della prima gara con molti interrogativi in sospeso: Valentino confermerà il suo ritorno alla grande? Come gestirà Pedrosa la convivenza con il nuovo ingombrante collega? Il grande talento di Marquez esploderà subito? Le prove, le qualifiche ed il warm up non hanno aiutato a risolverli, l’unica cosa certa è che Lorenzo si è già accorto che quest’anno avrà qualche problemino in più per rivincere il mondiale.
Dopo l’inno nazionale americano cantato sul Circuito delle Americhe, alla partenza Marquez si è bruciato la pole, poi c’è stata una grande confusione alla prima curva che ha portato la maggior parte dei piloti a chiudersi stretti in pochi metri con una bella bagarre. In pochi secondi ci sono stati vari sorpassi e controsorpassi e la fine del primo giro ha visto Pedrosa in testa, Marquez al 2° posto seguito da Bradl (che è stato subito dopo sorpassato da Lorenzo dopo una bella scarenata). Al terzo giro Bautista ha sorpassato Rossi e d il terzo giro si è chiuso con Pedrosa in testa seguito da Marquez, Lorenzo, Bradl, Crutchlow, Bautista, Rossi, Dovizioso, Iannone. È stato bello vedere tre italiani in fila, poi a 17 giri dal termine Rossi ha sorpassato Bautista portandosi al 6° posto e a 15 giri dal termine Hayden è riuscito a passare Iannone, fine del trenino tricolore. A 14 giri dal termine Pedrosa era sempre in testa seguito a ruota da Marquez mentre Lorenzo si era un po’ staccato ma continuava ad avere un buon vantaggio su Bradl (che verrà sorpassato da Crutchlow al giro successivo). A 11 giri dal termine Dovizioso ha passato Bautista e Valentino ha cominciato a staccare dei giri veloci quanto quelli dei primi due piloti in testa. A 9 giri dal termine Marquez si è riportato in testa con uno strepitoso e millimetrico sorpasso su Pedrosa che gli resterà attaccato per altri 6 giri per poi perdere terreno. A due giri dal termine Bautista si è riportato definitivamente davanti a Dovizioso (subendo un contro sorpasso prima di riuscirci).
È stato un gran premio avaro di emozioni ma le poche che ci sono state sono state formidabili. Come formidabile è stata la gara di Marquez: non è da tutti cambiare classe e vincere già alla seconda gara. Ha dimostrato di essere già all’altezza degli altri e credo che l’esperienza che farà in questa stagione limerà i piccoli svantaggi che ancora ha (robetta, piccoli trucchi da veterani della classe regina ma ha già dimostrato ampiamente di essere un pilota fortissimo). Stavolta Valentino non è riuscito a tirare fuori il coniglio dal cilindro (anche se a metà gara ci abbiamo sperato tutti) ma mi è sembrato in gran forma. Gara contenitiva per Lorenzo che ha portato a casa dei punti preziosi mentre spenderei un paio di parole su Pedrosa: non avrà sicuramente gradito il sorpasso deciso di Marquez, che sia l’inizio di una (leale) lotta all’ultima frenata? Lo spettacolo ne ha tutto da guadagnare!

We had left our samples at the end of the first race with many questions outstanding: Valentino confirm his return to big? How to handle Pedrosa coexistence with the new bulky colleague? The great talent of Marquez will explode immediately? The practice, qualifying and the warm-up did not help to solve them, the only thing certain is that Lorenzo has already realized that this year will have some problems more to win back the world.
After the American national anthem sung at the Circuit of the Americas, at the start Marquez has blown the pole, then there was a lot of confusion at the first corner which led most of the pilots to shut tight in a few meters with a beautiful brawl . Within seconds there were various passes and controsorpassi and the end of the first lap saw Pedrosa in the lead, Marquez in 2nd place followed by Bradl (which was soon after overtaken by Lorenzo after a nice scarenata). On the third lap Rossi and Bautista has surpassed the third round ended with Pedrosa in the lead followed by Marquez, Lorenzo, Bradl, Crutchlow, Bautista, Rossi, Dovizioso, Iannone. It was nice to see three Italians in a row, then 17 laps to go Rossi overtook Bautista taking 6th place and 15 laps to go Hayden managed to pass Iannone, the end of the train tricolor. At 14 laps to go Pedrosa was still in the lead followed closely by Marquez while Lorenzo was a bit ‘off but continued to have a good advantage over Bradl (which will be overtaken by the next lap Crutchlow). A 11 laps to go Dovizioso past Bautista and Valentino began to pull some fast laps as those of the first two riders in the lead. A 9 laps from the end Marquez has been reported in the head with a resounding and millimeter overtook Pedrosa that will stick for another 6 laps only to lose ground. Two laps from the end Bautista has shown definitively ahead of Dovizioso (undergoing a counter overtaking before succeeding).
It was a grand prize stingy with emotions but the few that were there were formidable. How terrific was the race of Marquez: not everyone can change class and already win the second race. It has already been shown to be up to the other and I think the experience that will make this season screwing her small disadvantages that still has (trinkets, little tricks from veterans of the premier class but has already been amply demonstrated to be a strong rider). This time Valentino was not able to pull the rabbit out of the hat (although after the first half we had all hoped there) but I thought it was in great shape. Race containment Lorenzo, who took home some valuable points and I would spend a couple of words on Pedrosa will have certainly enjoyed the overtaking decided to Marquez, who is the beginning of a (fair) fight to the last braking? The show has everything to gain!
