The nautical style history

Lo stile nautical, conosciuto anche come moda alla marinara, ormai si sa è uno dei trends più forti e ricorrenti della stagione estiva.
Ogni anno sono tanti i capi di abbigliamento e gli accessori che vengono proposti con un tocco sailor, che si contraddistinguono per lo più da righe blu navy e bianche. Oltre a questa fantasia evergreen, ultimamente stanno prendendo sempre più piede anche una serie di vestiti dal taglio da marinaretta, e bottoni dorati e decorati.Ma sapete come e quando nasce davvero lo stile nautical? Come hanno fatto indumenti come le iconiche magliette dei pescatori in blu e bianco e i pesanti cappotti in lana doppio petto usati dai marinai a diventare capi alla moda? E’ stata Coco Chanel a sfoderare già negli anni venti la maglia a righe, pensata in tessuto jersey per un pubblico femminile. E proprio alla stilista va il merito di aver reso questo capo un evergreen della storia dell’abbigliamento, che riadattò per le donne una divisa tipicamente maschile creando uno stile che sarebbe diventato icona in tutto il mondo.  Da lì in poi sono infiniti gli esempi di personaggi del jet set a legare la propria immagine allo stile nautico.Anni dopo sono le nuove promesse del cinema e della musica a fare della classica maglia a righe un segno distintivo della loro personalità: Jane Birkin, Brigitte Bardot, Audrey Hepburn sono solo alcune delle protagoniste della scena internazionale che non perdono occasione per indossarla, anche in vacanza, sulle spiagge della Costa Azzurra. Ed eccoci agli anni ’80 quando lo stilista Jean Paul Gaultier sdogana definitivamente lo stile marinaro rendendolo il suo marchio di fabbrica, sposando l’appeal dello stile nautico con la tendenza sartoriale.

Nautical style, also known as navy fashion, is one of the strongest trends that recurring every summer. Every year there are lots of clothing and accessories that are available with a sailor touch, that are characterized mostly by navy stripes in blue and white. 
In addition to this evergreen print, in recent summers there were even many sailor ispired cut dresses, and gold buttons and sailor decorations.
But do you know how and when it really becomes a fashion style? How garments like the iconic shirts of fishermen in blue and white and heavy coats in wool double-breasted used by sailors become fashions? Was Coco Chanel to pull off in the twenties the striped t-shirt, in jersey fabric, designed for a female audience. And she is the designer credited with making this piece an evergreen in the history of fashion, that readapted for women a uniform typically male, creating a style that would become an icon around the world. From then on, there are countless examples of vips that tied their image to the nautical theme.
Years later are the new promises of movie and music to make the classic striped shirt a hallmark of their personalities: Jane Birkin, Brigitte Bardot, Audrey Hepburn are just some of the stars of the international scene, that does not missing a chance to wear it, especially on the beaches of the French Riviera.
And here we are to the '80s when the fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier clearance definitely the marine style making his trademark, marrying the appeal of nautical style with the tailoring.
