A complemento del post Live In Asbury Park: “La musica ... era quella dell’America di American Graffiti e di Happy Days; i giorni dei primi anni sessanta, quelli di JFK e della guerra fredda, ma anche quella della adolescenza di una generazione nuova, ottimista e differente dalla generazione dei padri. Nella seconda metà degli anni cinquanta era esploso il rock & roll, ad opera di personalità del calibro di Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Little Richards, Jerry Lee Lewis, Buddy Holly. Nel 1960 si era in risacca, fino alla codifica del Rock da parte di Beatles e invasori britannici e Bob Dylan. Ma fu in quegli anni che si scrisse un enorme songbook di classici del rock, i three minutes records che segnarono la cultura di Bruce Springsteen e più o meno di tutta la musica moderna americana ed inglese. Dal soul a marca Stax, Atlantic e Motown al muro del suono di Phil Spector, dalle canzoni di Roy Orbison a quell’ondata di band da un brano solo o poco più che divennero l’antologia delle cover degli anni a venire, come Del Shannon, Gary US Bonds, Mitch Ryder. Non c'erano più crooner nella classifica di vendita dei dischi, ma solo teenager. Era la musica rock "prima di Beatles e Rolling Stones"
