Ecco arrivato il mio “stop” per il blog tour di Fractured, intrigante horror YA (in lingua inglese) scritto dalla giovanissima – ma con diversi libri pubblicati – autrice Erin Hayes. Questo è il suo primo romanzo “da brivido” ma la sua cura nella scrittura e nell’intreccio sono estremamente credibili e rendono la lettura… beh, spaventosa. Due gemelle, due persone diversissime. Fin dalla nascita Bash e Lily hanno avuto caratteri e temperamenti diversi: Bash è dolce, socievole e si fa ben volere da tutti; Lily è quella scontrosa, ritrosa e invidiosa delle attenzioni della sorella. Un giorno – un brutto giorno – a Bash succede qualcosa, un attacco epilattico, dicono, che la lascia cieca. Problema che non fa altro che acuire l’astio di Lily visto che ora le maggiori attenzioni rivolte alla sorella sono ulteriormente giustificate dalla sua disabilità.
Una vacanza insieme potrebbe essere un buon modo di riconciliare le due sorelle ma presto Bash si rende conto che qualcosa non torna con Lily, in lei c’è qualcosa di malvagio.
Un horror adolescenziale molto dark, con un’introspezione profonda nelle personalità delle ragazze rende verosimile questo romanzo dalle venature paranormal che ci immerge fin dalle prime pagine nella realtà che vive la famiglia Martin. Ma fin qui sembra ancora tutto tranquillo, quantomeno finché non succede qualcosa di inaspettato e definitivo che fa deragliare il treno della normalità. Definitivamente.
Ci sarebbero molte cose da dire su questo romanzo ma non voglio anticiparvi nulla, anche la trama diffusa, forse, è fin troppo esaustiva perché la parte migliore di Fractured è proprio questo continuo sorprendere il lettore ad ogni capitolo, un’immersione sempre più profonda in un mondo apparentemente tranquillo ma che cela anime marce, segreti nascosti, luoghi “altri” che sarebbe meglio non avere la sfortuna di conoscere.
Libro consigliatissimo!

Two twins, two very different people. A vacation together might be a good way to reconcile the two sisters but Bash soon realizes that there is something very wrong with Lily, that hides something evil.
A teenage horror very dark, with deep introspection in the personalities of the girls makes it likely that the veining paranormal novel that immerses us in the very first pages actually living the Martin family. But so far it still seems all quiet, at least until something unexpected happens and derails the train of normality. Definitely.
There would be many things to say about this novel, but do not want to anticipate anything, even the texture widespread, perhaps, is too great because the best part of it is that Fractured surprise the reader with each chapter, dive deeper and deeper into a world seemingly quiet but hides rotten souls, hidden secrets, “other” places that would be better not to have the misfortune to know.
