Here we are at the second day in Corsica! Finally the sea ..The night before, returning from Porto Vecchio, we watched the beaches of the "Costa Mother of Pearl". The choice fell on the beach of Canella (shallow water) but then we chose the Anse de Favone, much larger and equipped, without being too overrun by private property. Fortunately, the season of mass tourism seems over, few people on the beach, beautiful sea, the sun is felt and to me it must be the protection 50, a good book and my beach towel (in fact I was paid by my Glenda friend) who disdained the German lady who had just arrived had smiled at me! Unfortunately they were barbarians, barbarians were ... but we want them just as well!
After lunch we move on another beach a few kilometers away, it is the natural site of Fautea, two beaches and a Genoese tower, all surrounded by the Mediterranean. These smells of resin, myrtle and mint, bark corks ... So also should be the coast and the mountains of my country, but unfortunately degradation and advancing concrete merciless, and so it seems to be happening also to Corsica, at least this part of the south it seems more abused than we have known in the past year (Cap Corse, San Fiorenzu, Porto, Corti). In any case the beauty still reigns supreme!
Here in the south it seems difficult to find someone to talk to in the Corsican language, the reasons for this can sink in the contemporary history. When, in 1962, many French repatriated from Algeria (pieds noir) settled here, they started to grow citrus and other, with the aid of the French state. One of the many injustices that Corsica had support in its history.
Of this island we love the spirit of independence, passion for Che Guevara, and the songs on Freedom. Of this island we love the deep blue sea, hidden beaches and mountain streams where refreshing ideas in some sultry afternoons of September ...
These mountains are spectacular! What a surprise! The road is narrow but good, and climbs amid breathtaking views. This is the Route de la Bavella, there admire the spiers of Bavella (or towers Asinao) but for us it's like being in the realm of He-Man and Skeleton! The forest is a charm, reminiscent of the Pisan mountains, but very, very bigger! Our destination is the sunset ..
and finally, through enchanted woods, get on the Col de Bavella. We are on time for the sunset .. A sunset refreshing like few! Marco realizes not having brought the sweater, so soon one of my (I think I've brought the two most padded vest from riding, but I feel a certain ... chilly!
I larici piegati dal vento e un paio di ristoranti, noi avevamo già deciso dove andare!-The larch trees bent by the wind and a couple of restaurants, we had already decided to go!
I can finally savor a soup properly done, reminds me so much as I was preparing my grandmother, with the recipe to good Pisan country. Unfortunately this dish vegan anti-litteram few can do it well in my part, and this would be the traditional dish. Luckily im Corsica have passed down the recipe! Another good thing inherited from Pisa ...?
