Fortnum & Mason e Acqua di Parma

ITAChiedo venia ai miei (pochi, ma affezionati!) lettori, è più di una settimana e mezza che non scrivo niente di nuovo, ma ho una giustificazione: sono venute a trovarmi a Londra, nell'ordine, la mia migliore amica e poi mia mamma, che è ancora qui. Entrambe avevano già visitato la città, ma ogni volta Londra sembra un posto nuovo e diverso, è così piena di cose da vedere e da fare che il tempo vola e tutti vogliono correre in giro come trottole. Sali sui bus, scendi giù nella metropolitana, entra ed esci da negozi e musei: in questi giorni non ci stiamo facendo mancare nulla! Io, che ormai mi sento un po' londinese d'adozione, mi offro sempre volontaria per fare da guida, personal shopper ed esperta di consigli gastronomici - e tutte e tre le cose mi escono male, ma non importa, quello che conta è l'intenzione...vero?Ho voluto portare la mia migliore amica da Fortnum & Mason, uno splendido e storico department store nel pieno centro di Londra, vicinissimo a Piccadilly Circus. Personalmente, lo preferisco di gran lunga all'abusato e sempre affollatissimo Harrods: è di classe, presenta solo pezzi scelti con cura, non vende vestiti (ma solo accessori come borse, cappelli, sciarpe e lingerie) e ha un reparto gastronomia da acquolina alla bocca. E, last but not least, presenta uno tra i più forniti e superbi reparti profumeria che io abbia mai visto, con tantissime firme di nicchia, collezioni pressoché introvabili altrove ed offerte interessanti. C'era anche il corner di Acqua di Parma e io, come ogni volta in cui ne vedo uno, non sono riuscita a trattenermi dallo spruzzare un po' di Mandorlo di Sicilia su una mouillette da portare con me in tasca e annusare per tutto il pomeriggio, per rendere memorabile ogni momento. Tra tutte le - ottime! - acque proposte dal brand, quella alla mandorla è decisamente la mia preferita, sin da quando ero ragazzina. Mi fa sentire fresca e piena di energia, mi ricorda l'estate e i pomeriggi sulla spiaggia o trascorsi a passeggiare sul lungomare tra le palme: insomma, mi riporta alla mente tantissimi bei ricordi ed emozioni positive, sempre utili per affrontare la giornata. Le acque sono fragranze sempre molto fresche e leggere, e il motivo è semplice: non contengono alcool e la base è acqua termale. Questo, anche se da un lato le rende meno durevoli, fa sì che siano perfette per la primavera e l'estate, quando si prediligono profumi freschi e che non appesantiscono, e per evitare lo spiacevole rischio di macchie sulla pelle che può presentarsi se si usano fragranze alcoliche sotto il sole. Insomma, l'ideale per trasportare uno spicchio del cielo azzurro del Mediterraneo in un grigio pomeriggio londinese!ENGI apologize with my readers (you're just a few, but you're still the best ones!) for not having posted for almost a week, but I got my reasons: my bf and then my mom came to visit me here in London, and I've acted like a tourist for all these days. Both have already seen the city, but London always shows something new, exciting and different, the time is running faster and faster and everyone wants to run everywhere like a top. Jump on a bus, go deeper in the underground, in and out from shops and museums: in these days, there's nothing missed for us! I feel a bit Londoner righ now, and I always propose myself as tour guide, personal shopper and food adviser - and I'm good at none of it,  but it doesn't matter, the only thing that counts is the will...isn't it?I really wanted to bring my bf to Fortnum & Mason, an amazing and historical department store downtown, strictly close to Piccadilly Circus. Personally, I deeply prefer it than the overrated and crowdy Harrods: it's classy, it displays only well-chosen pieces of design, it doesn't sell clothes (just accessories such as bags, hats, scarves and lingerie) and it owns a deli which is mouth washing. And, last but not least, it presents one of the most magnificent and fully equipped perfumery that I've ever seen, with a lot of niche brands, collections extremely hard to find elsewhere and interessant offers. There was also Acqua di Parma corner shop, and I just couldn't resist to spry a bit of Mandorlo di Sicilia on a mouillette - like I always do when I bump into it - and bring it in my pocket for the whole afternoon, smelling it from time to time to turn every single moment into history. Among all the delightful water proposed by the brand, the almond one is definitely my favourite, since I was a kid. It makes me feel fresh and vibrant, it reminds me of summer and afternoons spent on the beach, the walks along the seaside sourrounded by palm trees: in short, it brings to my mind lovely memories and positive emotions, and you always need them to face a new dawn. Water are extremely fresh and light fragrances, and the reason of that is simple: no alcool in it and a base made with thermal water. This, even if make it lasts for a shorter time, makes it perfect for spring and summer, when you prefer chilly and soft perfumes, and to avoid the unpleasant risk of developing sunspots - it might occur when you use alcoholic fragrances under the sun. Then, the ideal thing to bring a spot of blue Mediterranean sky in a grey London's afternoon!
