Il racconto del tour non può che iniziare dalla fine, perché la Bosnia Herzegovina, mi è rimasta nel cuore con la sua accoglienza, la sua ospitalità, il suo calore, la sua gentilezza, la sua bellezza e la sua voglia di vivere nonostante...

E’  camminando per le vie di questo Paese che mi sono resa conto di quanto sia terribile la guerra, di cui ho sempre solo sentito parlare nei telegiornali, mentre ero seduta comodamente sul divano di casa mia con i miei cari attorno, e soprattutto di quanto l’uomo, durante la guerra riesca a tirare fuori la parte peggiore di se.

A fatica guardavo i segni delle bombe, delle cannonate e dei proiettili sui muri degli edifici e delle case, tutt’ora abitate, perché mi facevano così tanto male che ho persino rinunciato a fotografarli e un profondo nodo mi stringeva la gola nel vedere a pochi metri uno dall’altro i cimiteri di guerra dove sono sepolte migliaia di combattenti.

Un conto è la guerra vista in TV, un conto è vederne dal vivo le cicatrici: ti sembra tutti così surreale e assurdo che sei disorientata, ti chiedi il perché di tanto scempio,  ma nessuna risposta è esaustiva…

Eppure in mezzo a tanto dolore e tanta sofferenza a Mostar e dintorni  ho visto nelle persone tanta forza, tanta voglia di vivere  e di guardare avanti e traspare l’ amore profondo che i Bosniaci hanno nei confronti della loro splendida terra.

E nonostante l’anticiclone africano sia arrivato anche li con la sua aria rovente resa ancor più irrespirabile dall’umidità, la benevola accoglienza, la gentilezza delle persone e l’ospitalità semplice e generosa, hanno fatto si che questi due giorni veramente unici siano trascorsi troppo velocemente, lasciando un segno indelebile nel cuore…

It is while walking along the streets of this Town that I realized how terrible war is, of which until now I had only heard about on the news while I sat comfortably on the sofa at home surrounded by my family, and more importantly how man during war is capable of bringing out the worst part of himself.

With difficulty I looked at the signs of the bombs, guns and bullets on the walls of buildings and houses, still inhabited, because they disturbed me so much that I even gave up photographing them and a deep knot tightened in my throat while passing the many war cemeteries so near to each other where thousands of soldiers are buried.

It is one thing to watch war on TV, it is quite another to see its scars in person: it seems so surreal and absurd that it disorients you and you ask yourself why so much slaughter, but none of your answers are exhaustive…

Yet in the midst of so much pain and suffering, in Mostar and surroundings, I saw so much strength in the faces of the people and a will to live and look forward and what transpires is the profound love that the Bosnians have for their beautiful country.

Despite the fact that the African anticyclone has arrived there too, with its hot air making it even more unbreathable due to the humidity, the warm welcome and kindness of the people and the simple and generous hospitality have made these two really unique days pass far too quickly, leaving an indelible mark on our hearts…
