L'ombre dans l'eau by Diptyque

Liberty, in Great Marlborough St., è uno dei department store più belli e curati in cui io sia mai stata. Ogni volta che passo di lì, non riesco a fare a meno di entrare, fosse anche solo per una mezz'ora. Tutto in legno, caldo e accogliente, con pezzi scelti con cura, grandi spazi e un'atmosfera di lenta tranquillità così difficile da trovare altrove nel centro di Londra. Per dire, subito all'ingresso principale c'è un piccolo negozio di fiori, che immagino sia stato preso d'assalto dai ritardatari usciti dagli uffici alle sei di sera del giorno di San  Valentino - una ricorrenza molto sentita qui! Il reparto profumeria è piccolo e non particolarmente fornito, ma sono presenti comunque un paio di nomi interessanti. Ieri ci sono andata con un mio amico che è venuto a trovarci per qualche giorno, in cerca di un regalo per la sua fidanzata - ragazza fortunata! - e ho indugiato a lungo tra i vari profumi, senza riuscire a decidermi. Alla fine, quello che mi ha colpito di più è stato L'ombre dans l'eau, che mi aveva attirato già a partire dal nome. 

Prodotto dalla casa profumiera francese Diptyque - specializzata in candele profumate e fragranze per la casa -  e suggestivo sin dal flacone, in stile art déco, L'ombre dans l'eau è una fragranza che entra in una stanza in punta di piedi, leggera e delicata, ma con un tocco decisamente personale: si tratta di uno di quei profumi che piacciono moltissimo a poche persone, mentre vengono giudicati troppo eccentrici o particolari dai più. A me è piaciuto davvero molto: l'accordo tra foglie di cassis e rosa bulgara dà origine a un floreale fruttato molto gradevole, e se si chiudono gli occhi sembra davvero di essere seduti sulla riva di un fiume in un pomeriggio di primavera, con il classico salice piangente che fa ombra, i piedi immersi nell'acqua e i pensieri che vagano chissà dove. Every time I step ahead, I cannot stop myself to walk into, even for half an hour. Made entirely in wood, warm and cosy, with designed items carefully chosen, huge spaces and a slowly and quiet feel, so hard to find anywhere else in the heart of the City. For instance, there is a tiny flower shop right close the main entrance, which I wonder was taken by storm by tons of laggard who left the offices at six o'clock on Valentine's Day - a feast highly regarded here! The perfumery corner is small and not fully provided, but you can still find a couple of interesting stuff. Yesterday I went there with a friend of mine, who came visit us for few days, who was looking for a present for his girlfriend - lucky girl! -  and I lingered for an unreasonable time among several perfumes, without being able to make a choice. At the end of the day, the one which impressed me the most was L'ombre dans l'eau, which attracts me already for its name.Produced by the French cosmetics company Diptyque, specialized in scented candles and home fragrances - and evocative since its bottle, art déco style, L'ombre dans l'eau is a fragrance which enter the room tiptoe, light and delicate, but with a strong personal touch: it is one of those perfumes which are beloved by few people, judged way too kinky and peculiar from the rest. Personally, I liked it very very much: the harmony between cassis leaves and Bulgarian rose gives rise to a very pleasant fruity floreal fragrance, and if you close your eyes it really feels like being sit on a riverside in a spring afternoon, with the usual weeping willow casting a shadow behind you, your feet dipped in the water and thoughts wandering who knows where. Who loves perfumes telling a story, it's going to adore this one.
