Monegros Festival Pics / 44.000 persone nel mezzo del Deserto!

44.000 times thank you!

More than 44.000 people attended the 2012 edition of Monegros Desert Festival. For more than 20 hours of non stop music and art, the desert of Monegros has been the meeting point for young party goers from all over the world. Juan Arnau (promoter of the festival) stated: “this year might have been the best year in terms of attendance and no actuation was cancelled throughout the night, which is a major risk at big festivals”.

The Prodigy had not acted at Monegros since 2006, and their return to the desert was highly anticipated. They did not disappoint, delivering a high energy set, full of classics putting the 20.000 spectators in a total frenzy.

The French don, Laurent Garnier was in charge of the early slot on the Elrow stage with his LBS project, offering a 3 hours appetizer to the festival attendees, and the legendary Richie Hawtin closed the festival on the main stage with an attendance never seen at a closing ever before.

On the San Miguel stage the all-star Hip Hop crew Wu Legends (Method Man, Raekwon, GZA & Ghostface Killah) and local heroes Violadores Del Verso were both stellar, having the public jump around and sing along their most well known songs.

Other artists that delivered amazing performances:

·  Joris Voorn & Booka Shade with their elegant tech-house on the Elrow Stage,

·  Roman Flugel in the Redbull Academy showing why he is one of the most respected artist in the electronic music scene.

·  Subfocus with his impressive visual installation in the San Miguel Stage

·  The electro from Bloody Beetroots & South Central on the Main Stage

This year, the festival added two new components to the festival:  DesART  & el Skate contest. DesART through the installations of companies such as La Fura Dels Baus and Sarruga left the public wandering through the festival speechless.

The skate competition was a huge success, with Dannie Carlsen from Christiana, Copenhagen winning the competition and the biggest prize money.

The Organization behind Monegros Desert Festival is extremely happy that the 2012 edition of the festival was such a success and will start to work on the 2013 very soon in order to make it an even greater experience!
