La collezione autunno-inverno 2013-2014 di Chester Barrie si ispira al gusto della metà degli anni Trenta, periodo d’oro per la sartoria e data di nascita del marchio Chester Barrie. Anni vissuti come espressione di lusso, eleganza e raffinatezza: dal ricercato gusto delle nobili case della campagna inglese, allo stile impeccabile di star quali Clark Gable, Errol Flynn e l’inglese Jack Buchanan. Stile sartoriale emblema di appartenenza ad un mondo esclusivo, emulato da ogni uomo e così ben rappresentato da Edward, Principe di Galles, simbolo assoluto dell’alta società.
Impeccabili abiti a doppio petto, revers a punta arcuata per gli abiti mono petto, e il grande ritorno della giacca a tre bottoni: caratteristiche di una collezione sartoriale che ha nel lusso la sua massima espressione. Le giacche morbidissime ma ben strutturate per poter definire la silhouette del corpo. I tessuti morbidi al tatto sono l’elemento chiave di questa stagione: dalle flanelle lisce, rigate e melange alle lane e alla lana d’angora che accentuano l’effetto cashmere. A contrasto i tessuti croccanti come la lana a tre strati per gli abiti e i cotoni intrecciati Oxford per le camicie.
La gamma dei colori è costruita su un fondo grigio e blu navy con riflessi di velluto prugna e cioccolato, mentre la camiceria è caratterizzata da rosa polverosi e azzurri pallidi.

The autumn-winter 2013-2014 collection from Chester Barrie draws inspiration from the mid-1930s, a golden age for tailoring and the birth of the Chester Barrie brand. It was a time of elegance and refinement within the country houses of England, whilst the growing popularity of the movies delivered such icons as Clark Gable, Errol Flynn and, closer to home, Jack Buchanan. All men wanted to emulate that rakish charm and followed their sartorial lead. And, of course, Edward, Prince of Wales, was appearing in all the society pages.
Double-breasted suits; arced, peaked lapels on single breasted suits; and even the return of the three button jacket; all feature in a tailoring collection that has luxury at its heart. Jackets meanwhile are super-soft to touch but still have enough structure to give shape and definition to all body shapes.
Key for the season are tactile cloths: flannels – plain, striped and mottled – are to the fore while wool and angora with a scarf finish give a “I can’t believe it’s not cashmere” feel. Contrasting crispness comes from 3-ply wools that will retain their shape and cotton shirting in a rich basket weave.
The colour palette is built on a bed of grey and rich French navy with highlights of plum and chocolate velvet and dusty pink and pale blues in shirtings.
Chester Barrie was established in 1935 with the aim of making great tailoring accessible, ensuring that the best of Savile Row could be found in ready-to-wear suits. It is an approach that continues today. Chester Barrie takes all the hall marks of Savile Row craftsmanship and style to create a modern hand-writing.
