Fears, Hopes and Maps e’ un album un po’ controverso, dagli aspetti contrastanti e dal sapore elaborato. Per comprenderlo in pieno andrebbe ascoltato con attenzione e piu’ volte, perche’ il freddo che proviene dalle basi fondamentalmente elettroniche, si addolcisccono sorprendibilmente con l’ incontro ben studiato con la voce gentile di Stefania Salvato (la ricordiamo nei gradevoli Talk to Me). La leggerezza che permea queste canzoni, in alcune si tramuta in immaturita’ stilistica – alcune canzoni sembrano composte con forza creativa ma senza validi strimenti -in altre in morbidezza di intenti, che ingentilisce l’ impatto che l’ascoltatore puo’ avere.
La canzone The Edge, ad esempio, e’ una gradevole melodie synth-pop rinfrescata con modulazioni dreampop assolutamente accattivanti. Altre canzoni (Shelter) non convincono abbastanza ma lasciano intravedere una spinta creativa interessante.
L’ album andrebbe ascoltato, e il duo Edwin Aldin & Charlotte Bridge andrebbe tenuto d’occhio, perche’ c’e’ in esso una spinta verso una nuova visione del synth pop che potrebbe stupire molto presto.
Fears, Hopes and Maps it is an album bizarre, because inside you can find a lot of winds coming from more dreams made of cold synth pop and lovely sweet voice, that make more sweet all melodies.
In this album you find some songs really catchy ( The Edge, Dunes) but also others that are not enough for to conquer definitely the listener (Shelter).
This duo, Charlotte Bridge (Stefania Salvato from the lovely band Talk to Me) and Edwin Aldin (ex Natas loves you) is interesting because inside we can find desires of to create a new version of the synth pop, that maybe in the future will be shown to us in more transparent way.
