Circondatosi da maestri del genere (i coniugi Sparhawk, Jessica Bailiff, Aarktika), Nathan Amundson riveste il suono minimale della propria chitarra acustica con arrangiamenti eterei, spesso inquietanti, mai invasivi. Si passa da un'invocazione a cappella (An evil) ad un'austera confessione dark (Cutter), da una preghiera alcolista (Coversation with a half-empty bottle) ad una ninnananna disadorna (Shakes), senza scadere di tono nemmeno per un secondo. La parola Debridement indica l'asportazione di tessuti morti da una ferita, un'operazione dolorosa ma essenziale per la guarigione; raramente un titolo s'è dimostrato tanto perfetto.
