Stampanti 3D: Come utilizzarla e quali sono le novità

La naturale evoluzione della stampante 2D nel 21esimo secolo non poteva che essere la stampante 3D. Bravo direte voi, ma non avevo mai pensato alle potenzialità che questa potrebbe avere, anzi, ha, nelle lavorazioni industriali e di prototipazione.
La stampante 3D permette di realizzare dal vero un modello tridimensionale con un software di modellazione. Lavora con un metodo "additivo" (proprio come nelle grandi produzioni), ovvero, gli oggetti vengono creati da strati di materiali successivi, attraverso la stampante che, "gettando" materiale, segue il progetto realizzato in ufficio, in uno studio o a casa propria.E' proprio la potenzialità capillare la forza delle stampanti tridimensionali, poiché offre la possibilità di creare ed assemblare parti composte da diversi materiali con diverse proprietà fisiche e meccaniche in un singolo ciclo di produzione. Inoltre, sono più veloci, affidabili e più semplici da usare rispetto ad altre tecnologie per la produzione additiva.
Nell'ultimo anno poi, i loro prezzi sono crollati decisamente, tanto che chiunque può acquistarne una da tenere in casa anche perché, una normale stampante 3D risulta esser poco più grande di una cassetta della frutta.
Intendiamoci però, come esiste una differenza tra una stampante e un plotter, vi è una differenza tra stampanti 3D a seconda dell'uso che si deve fare, più o meno professionale.
Una delle notizie che ha portato la stampante 3D sotto i riflettori è stata quella della più famosa applicazionecreata per queste stampanti, Liberator, una pistola quasi interamente in plastica che si fabbrica in casa e che, purtroppo, funziona! 
Più di 90mila persone hanno scaricato i file che servono a impostare la stampante e per vedere nascere tra le mura di casa l'arma, perfettamente funzionante!
Casi come  questi sono molti negli Stati Uniti, anche perché altri che stanno seguendo l'esempio di Liberator, permettendo il download del file dell'arma, e di fatto non permettendo di capire quanti di coloro che hanno scaricato il file l'abbiano poi realizzata.
Di ben diverso peso sono invece le ricerche condotte dalla Nasa su particolari applicazioni da stampa 3D: creare cibo. La space agency numero uno al mondo ha infatti elargito una borsa di studio per il progetto di una stampante che crei automaticamente il cibo, ed è ovvio collegare questa "succulenta" lavorazione all'approvvigionamento degli astronauti in giro per lo spazio a scoprire cosa c'è di nuovo...
