There are some moments that define the  important changes in some places. Hence the future of these places becomes different from what we have thought. It was the XVI centry when a small cluster of houses becomes interesting for the Curia: I’m talking about Acquasparta (Terni) in the beautiful region of Umbria. Thanks to the papal interests and the arrival of a noble family, this small cluster of houses began to have  some new  architectural structures that made this village a fairytale place. A new main street and  a new main  square appear. The external structure of the castle became more refine,  although it was always clear the difference between  the noble family of Cesi and the population. This  small village was home to the great Galileo: the noble Cesi family, sensitive to the culture, founded the Academy of the Lincei which was the oldest scientific academy in the world. Here there was the first seat of this accademy in the early XVII centry: later the Accademia was moved in Rome, after the death of Federico Cesi.

Think about it. Walking around the streets of this sleepy village- now surrounded by some modern houses- takes us back to a past that we ignore: in the same streets where you walk looking the clear sky, Galileo used to stop thinking of the great scientific issues.  Who knows  how many other scientists were watching the sky thinking about some discoveries that are normal for us today, but very important for all the humankind.   The buffs of the history and science can walk quiet among the stones of this village breathing the desire for the discovery that raised up this sleepy village. Let yourself be drawn by the imagination and perhaps you seem to be in the magical XVI century.

Ci sono dei momenti che determinano cambiamenti importanti per certi luoghi e da lì il loro futuro diventa diverso e impensabile da come sembrava potesse svilupparsi. Siamo nel  1500 quando un piccolo agglomerato di case diventa di interesse della curia: siamo ad Acquasparta ( Terni) nella bellissima regione dell’Umbria. Grazie all’intervento degli interessi papali e all’arrivo di una famiglia nobile del tempo, il piccolo agglomerato di case cominciò a vedere spuntare strutture architettoniche che lo resero un borgo da favola. Appare una nuova via principale, una piazza, l’aspetto del castello viene ingentilito sebbene spicchi sempre la netta differenza tra la famiglia nobile dei Cesi e il resto della popolazione. Fu così che un piccolo paesino ospitò il grande Galileo : questa nobile famiglia , sensibile alla cultura, fondò in l’accademia dei Lincei che fu la più antica accademia scientifica del mondo. Questa fu la prima sede dell'accademia nei primi del 1600 per poi spostarsi nella sede definitiva di Roma, dopo la morte di Federico Cesi. Pensateci. Passeggiare per le vie sonnacchiose di questo  borgo, ora circondato anche da abitazioni più moderne, ci riporta ad un passato di cui spesso siamo ignari: nelle stesse vie dove camminate naso all’aria, Galileo soleva fermarsi pensando alle grandi tematiche scientifiche e chissà quanti altri scienziati osservavano il cielo pensando a scoperte che oggi noi diamo per scontate e che furono conquiste per l’umanità . Amanti delle storia e della scienza , silenzioso tra le pietre di questo borgo potete passeggiare respirando il desiderio di scoperta che innalzò questo sonnacchioso borgo.
