INTERVISTA CON L’AUTRICE
1) Ciao Kate! E 'un piacere averti nel nostro blog. Vuoi gentilmente presentarti ai nostri amati lettori? Ciao! Sono Katie Alender, autore del libro Le Cattive ragazze non muoiono mai e il suo sequel. Vivo a Los Angeles, California, con mio marito e il mio meraviglioso cane (beh, si tratta in realtà un cane un po’ bruttino - ma per me è meraviglioso!).
2) Che cosa ti ha motivato a scrivere? La tua famiglia ti ha incoraggiato in questa passione?
Ho cominciato a scrivere quando avevo otto anni. Mi piaceva molto l’idea di essere in grado di creare e controllare un piccolo mondo. Ho frequentato un istituto d’arte speciale, dove ho studiato scrittura creativa e produzione video. I miei genitori sono sempre stati molto supportivi.
3) Che cosa fai di solito quando scrivi? Segui un processo speciale? Alcuni "riti"?
Purtroppo, il mio processo di scrittura di solito comporta procrastinare per almeno qualche ora e poi a scrivere per due ore. Se riuscissi a sforzarmi a lavorare di più, sarei in grado di scrivere molto più velocemente!
4) Di solito scrivi sul tuo PC, su una macchina da scrivere o con una penna/matita? Quando scrivo appunti o idee, o sto cercando di risolvere un problema, scrivo su un album da disegno. Ma quando sto scrivendo il libro stesso, scrivo sul mio computer. Sono più veloce a scrivere lì che a mano, quindi preferisco il computer.
5) Qual è il libro senza il quale non andresti mai da nessuna parte?
Ho diversi libri preferiti! Mi piace molto Orgoglio e Pregiudizio (Jane Austen), La rivolta di Atlante (Ayn Rand), e un libro sulla scrittura chiamato Save the Cat (Blake Snyder). Inoltre, non viaggerei mai senza il mio taccuino per scrivere le mie idee!
6) Che cosa ti ha ispirato a scrivere questo libro? Da dove hai preso ispirazione per i personaggi di Alexis e Kasey?
Sono stata molto ispirata dall'idea di due sorelle che sono molto amiche, ma che non hanno nessun altro a cui rivolgersi. E mi piaceva l'idea di una forza spaventosa nella loro casa che si impossessa di una di loro, lasciando l'altra sorella con un grosso problema da affrontare!
7) Che tipo di ricerche hai fatto per scrivere questo libro?
Non ho fatto molte ricerche. Perché è sul paranormale, sono stato in grado di farmi le mie regole. La parte più difficile è che anche quando si creano delle regole personalizzate, bisogna rispettarle!
8) Credi a fantasmi, possessioni, case infestate? Hai mai incontrato un fantasma o qualcosa di simile? Non ho mai incontrato un fantasma, quindi non posso dire che ci credo con sicurezza. Ma ho amici che hanno avuto esperienze molto spaventose con i fantasmi. Così, quando ho sentito le loro storie, ho iniziato a pensare di crederci probabilmente anche io!
9) Quanto la tua esperienza di scrittrice per la televisione influenza il tuo stile di scrittura narrativa? Ho avuto la (positiva) impressione che ti fossi immaginata scrivendo le scene del libro come se stessi girando un film, è vero?
Sì, sono stata influenzata sia la mia formazione didattica sul cinema (che era la mia specializzazione al college) e scrivendo per la televisione. Dal punto di vista visivo, sono stata influenzata dalla scuola di cinematografia. Ma scrivere per la televisione mi ha aiutato molto con i dialoghi, perché mi è capitato di scrivere copioni che non dovevano sembrare tali. Così ho imparato ad ascoltare con molta attenzione come parla la gente e ciò che rende ognuno di noi unico.
10) Dove hai trovato l'ispirazione per scrivere questo romanzo (da altri scrittori, storie reali vere o presunte sentite quando eri più giovane, ecc.)?
Quando ho letto il libro di Stephen King "On Writing", mi sono sentita motivata a finire di scrivere il libro. È stata la prima volta che ho pensato che avrei davvero potuto scrivere un intero romanzo - non c’era nessuna ragione per cui non dovessi essere in grado di farlo. Questa era una cosa importante per me da capire.
11) Esprimi la tua vena artistica attraverso mezzi diversi dalla scrittura (dipingere, suonare strumenti ..)?
Vorrei poter suonare uno strumento! Amo la musica, ma sono un cantante terribile e io non sono capace di suonare nulla. Il mio hobby è cucire. Mi piace fare trapunte - e, occasionalmente, capi di abbigliamento, come gonne o abiti. E 'una parte molto importante della mia vita! E 'molto rilassante.
12) Poiché questo è il tuo romanzo d'esordio, come è stato il processo di pubblicazione?
La mia esperienza è stata interessante dal punto di vista editoriale. L'editore che ha acquistato il libro al mio editore USA ha lasciato il lavoro per tornare all'università, così ho dovuto prenderne uno nuovo. (Si chiama in gergo "diventare orfani.") Per fortuna, il mio nuovo editore è una donna meravigliosa che si è veramente impegnata lavorando con me. E poi ho avuto mi sono divertita un sacco incontrando blogger e lettori, entrando in contatto con tante persone. E 'stato davvero grande!
13) Come ti rapporti rispetto all’enorme successo internazionale che ha seguito la pubblicazione del tuo libro?
Beh, io non so se lo chiamerei enorme successo internazionale! Spero vivamente che arrivi, ma in questo momento sono entusiasta di vedere che le persone sono in grado di leggere il libro in altre lingue. La cosa che preferisco è vedere le copertine delle versioni internazionali. Sono così belle!
14) Quali sono i tuoi progetti futuri? Hai qualche altro libro in corso d’opera o in procinto di essere pubblicato? Possiamo avere qualche anticipazione?
Ci sono ancora due libri di questa serie su cui sto lavorando al momento. E sto iniziando ora un nuovo progetto, per cui non ho ancora un editore, ma spero di trovarne presto uno.

INTERVIEW WITH THE AUTHOR 1) Ciao Kate! It’s a pleasure to have you in our blog. Would you kindly introduce yourself to our beloved readers?
Hello! I'm Katie Alender, author of the book Le cattive ragazze non muoiono mai and its sequels. I live in Los Angeles, California, with my husband and my wonderful dog (well, he's actually a very bad little dog--but he's wonderful to me!).
2) What did motivate you to write? Did your family encourage this passion?
I began writing when I was eight years old. I really loved being able to create and control a little world. I attended a special high school for the arts, where I studied writing and video production. My parents were always very supportive.
3) What do you usually do when you write? Do you follow a special process? Some “rites”?
Unfortunately, my writing process usually involves procrastinating for about right hours and then writing for two hours. If I could force myself to work more, I would be able to write much faster!
4) Do you usually write on your PC, on a typewriter or with a pen/pencil?
When I'm writing notes or ideas, or trying to work through a problem, I write in a sketchbook. But when I'm writing the book itself, I write on my computer. I'm faster at typing than writing by hand, so it's better to use a computer.
5) Which is the book without which you wouldn’t go anywhere?
I have many favorite books! I really love Pride & Prejudice (Jane Austen), Atlas Shrugged (Ayn Rand), and a book about writing called Save the Cat (Blake Snyder). Also, I would never travel without my sketchbook to write my ideas in!
6) What inspired you to write this book? From where did you take inspiration for the characters of Alexis and Kasey? I was very inspired by the idea of two sisters who are very close friends, but who have no one else to turn to. And I liked the idea of a scary force in their house becoming an influence on one of them, leaving the other sister with a big problem!
7)What kind of research did you carry out to write this book?
I didn't do very much research. Because it's about the paranormal, I was able to make up my own rules. The hardest part is that even when you make up the rules, you have to follow them!
8) Do you believe in ghosts, possessions, haunted houses? Did you ever meet a ghost or something similar?
I've never met a ghost, so I can't say I definitely believe. But I do have friends who have very scary experiences with ghosts. So when I hear their stories, I start to think that maybe I do believe!
9) How much does your experience as a writer for TV influence your style of writing fiction? I had the (positive) impression that you could have imagined the scene movie-like before writing it, is that right?
Yes, I was influenced by both my film school education (that was my focus in college) and by writing for television. Visually, I was more impacted by film school. But writing for television helped me a lot with dialogue, because I wrote scripts that had to sound as if they were not scripted. So I learned to listen very carefully to the ways people talk, and what makes them unique.
10) Where did you look for inspiration to write this novel (other writers, real or presumed real stories heard when you were younger, etc.)?
When I read Stephen King's book "On Writing," it motivated me to finish writing the book. It was the first time I thought that I really could write a whole novel--there was no reason why I shouldn't be able to do so. That was an important thing for me to realize.
11) Do you express your artistic vein through other means other than writings (painting, playing some instruments..)?
I wish I could play an instrument! I love music, but I am a terrible singer and I don't play anything. My hobby is sewing. I love to make quilts--and occasionally clothing, like skirts or dresses. It's a very important part of my life! It's very relaxing.
12) As this is your debut novel, how was your publishing process?
My publishing experience was interesting. The editor who acquired the book at my USA publisher left the industry to go back to university, so I got a new editor. (They call that "being orphaned.") Luckily, my new editor is a wonderful woman who really worked hard with me. And then I've had a lot of fun meeting bloggers and readers and connecting with people. It has been really great!
13) How do you feel about this huge international success which followed the publication of your book?
Well, I don't know if I would say huge international success! I certainly hope that will come, but right now I am thrilled to see that people are able to read the book in other languages. My favorite thing is to see the covers for the international versions. They are so beautiful!
14) What are your future plans? Do you have any other book “in progress” or about to be published? Could we have some anticipations?
There are two more books in this series. That is what I'm working on now. And now I'm starting a new project. It doesn't have a publisher yet, but I hope it will find one soon.
