Steampunk

Ispirata dalle bellissime scarpe di Alexander McQueen in stile Steampunk, e dall’ancor più fantastico film “Steamboy” ho deciso di parlarvi un pò di questo stile, prima di farvi vedere (domani promesso) qualche mio piccolo disegno ispirato a questo mondo.

Innanzitutto un pò di spiegazioni: Chi o cosa è lo Steampunk?

Wikipedia docet: “è un filone della narrativa fantastica-fantascientifica che introduce una tecnologia anacronistica all’interno di un’ambientazione storica, spesso l’Ottocento e in particolare la Londra vittoriana.” Le storie steampunk descrivono un mondo in cui armi, strumentazionie mezzi di trasporto , come automobili, computer, ecc., vengono azionate dalla forza motrice del vapore (steam in inglese) anziché dall’energia elettrica.

La mia definizione preferita di questo stile è sicuramente racchiusa nello slogan: “Come sarebbe stato il passato se il futuro fosse accaduto prima“.(Cit: Wikipedia).

Al di là dei generi letterari e delle loro sfumature, se parliamo invece di Steampunk come sottocultura, allora dobbiamo provare ad immaginare come si sarebbe vestito un Punk o un Goth se fosse vissuto a quel tempo; ecco spiegati allora i corsetti, le sottovesti a brandelli o i completi vittoriani con gli occhiali di protezione e il kit di riparazione sempre pronto per ogni evenienza.

Qualcuno potrebbe chiedersi perchè vi parlo di questo stile, ebbene, come primo motivo c’è l’attenzione dedicata da Alexander McQueen a questa subcultura, con l’ideazione di queste, favolose (ma non indossabili) scarpe oltre ad una linea di occhiali sempre in tema steampunk; come secondo motivo, il fatto che, pur non avendo nulla di Steampunk, mi piace molto come stile e il “Cosa sarebbe successo se…” che è alla base di tutta questa “filosofia”.

Qui di seguito potete trovare alcune foto, le prime due sono i famosi tronchetti di Alexander McQueen di cui ho già parlato abbastanza sopra, l’ultima, invece, sono gli occhiali, sempre firmati Alexander McQueen, a tema Steampunk….Spero vi piacciano!

Inspired by the wonderful Alexander McQueen shoes in Steampunk style, and from the most fantastic film “Steamboy” I decided to talk about this style, before to show you (tomorrow, promised)some draws of mine inspired to this word.

First of all a little explanations: Who or what is Steampunk?

Wikipedia docet: “Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction and speculative fiction, who used an anachronistic technology inside an exact historical period, usually the 19th Century, more exactly London during victorian age. ” Steampunk stories describe a word in which weapons, equipment and vehicles, like cars, computers, etc., are driven by steam power, instead of electric energy.

My favorite definition is certainly reflected in the motto: ” has have been the past if the future was happened before.”(Cit: Wikipedia).

Beyond the literary genres and their nuances, if we talk about Steampunk as a subculture, then we have to try to imagine how have a Punk or a Goth dressed if they were living at this time; here explained corsets, petticoats in rags or Victorian suite with goggles and repair kit ready for any eventuality.

Someone could wonder why I speak of this style,well, the first reason is the attention given by Alexander McQueen to this subculture, with the design of these fabulous (but not worn) shoes as well as a line of sunglasses ever regarding Steampunk style, also Alexander McQueen designed; the second reason is that I really like this style and his “philosophy” “what happened if …”
