WA on the road: Provence!

La scorsa settimana, in occasione del terzo “anniversario” con il mio fidanzato, ci siamo regalati un giro in Provenza ed è stato uno tra i viaggi più belli mai fatti. Purtroppo, quando ci si sposta spesso, la connessione internet non gioca a favore e non ho potuto fare post quotidiani, ma ho pensato di tenere un diario di viaggio da poter condividere con voi!PRIMA TAPPA: Parma - Eze Village

Dopo 383 km arriviamo in un bellissimo paesino medievale arroccato sulle montagne dietro Monte Carlo; si lascia la macchina e si sale a piedi lungo strette viuzze che ospitano, tra le altre cose, un albergo/ristorante 5 stelle Relais Chateaux LA CHEVRE D’OR con vista mozzafiato sul mare.In ogni porticina puoi trovare il laboratorio di un artigiano che lavora il legno o piccole gallerie d’arte; il negozio che mi ha colpito di più ricreava scenografie il miniatura o lampadari fatti a mongolfiera o dirigibile (ideali per la camera dei bambini anche se il prezzo è decisamente alto).Ci facciamo subito prendere dallo shopping e svaligiamo il negozietto di MATILDE B. che si trova all’inizio del paese: adoro i suoi profumi per ambiente, biancheria o per i guanciali del letto.SECONDA TAPPA: Eze - S.Paul De VenceDecidiamo di passare sul lungomare di Nizza e Cagnes sur Mer, arriviamo a S.Paul dopo 35 km. Il paese è simile a Eze ma più commerciale e più grande, tanti negozi di souvenir, mura che lo circondano e la bellissima piazza che ospita qualche bistrot e la pista dove i vecchietti giocano a Petancle (tipo le nostre bocce).TERZA TAPPA: S.Paul De Vence- Aix En ProvenceDopo aver trascorso un’ora a S.Paul partiamo alla volta di Aix en Provence e arriviamo dopo 172 km verso le 19,30. Alla fine della giornata non vedevamo l’ora di sistemarci in albergo e farci una bella doccia; alloggiamo a “LA BASTIDE DU COURS” in Cours Mirabeau, la via principale, l’hotel è in stile francese e appena arriviamo in camera la vediamo lì, ci stava aspettando, una vasca da bagno gigantesca in stile luigi xxv rivisitata (i piedini non erano in oro ma verdi fluo!) da JEAN DELAFON. La riempiamo, mettiamo una montagna di bagnoschiuma e non vi dico che ralax.Decidiamo di cenare in un ristorantino lì vicino in stile Liberty molto elegante dove si narra fosse solito cenare il pittore Cezanne. Scegliamo il menù a 25 € che comprende fois gras e formaggio di capra, entrecote con patate e un vino della zona CHATEAU DE FONSCOLOMBE (delicieux!). Per finire in bellezza ci gustiamo la tarte tatin. La mattina ci dedichiamo al tour della città, comincia a piovere e ci ripariamo nei minitaxi elettrici che girano per le strade.QUARTA TAPPA: Aix En Provence - Camargue (ST. Marie De La Mer)Dopo un centinaio di km arriviamo in questo paesino sul mare che sembra dipinto; si trova nel parco naturale della Camargue, dove ci sono i tipici cavalli bianchi, saline e paludi. Qui il piatto tipico sembra sia la paella, pranziamo e continuiamo verso nord.QUINTA TAPPA: ST. Marie De La Mer - ArlesMeraviglia! Dopo 60 km troviamo questa piccola cittadina attraversata dal Rodano, con diverse rovine romane, tra cui un anfiteatro (mini colosseo),decisamente imponente per quel paesino!SESTA TAPPA: Arles - Castillon Du Gard

Pont Du Gard

Mentre ci spostiamo da un paese all’altro il paesaggio è stupendo, campi di vigne e lavanda (non ancora fiorita, per vedere i campi colorarsi di viola bisogna andare verso luglio/agosto). Arriviamo in questo paese medievale perfettamente conservato dove c’è il nostro albergo Relais & Chateaux “ LE VIEUX CASTILLON”, ci regaliamo una sauna e andiamo in paese appena in tempo per cenare.Il mattino dopo ci svegliamo con un bel temporale e ne approfittiamo per dormire un po’ di più, facciamo colazione nella sala da pranzo a bordo piscina che ha una vista pazzesca sulla vallata, usciamo e….spunta il sole! Andiamo lì vicino a vedere il Pont du Gard, un esempio di grandezza dell’architettura romana. Era un acquedotto che si estendeva per chilometri e in quel punto diventa un ponte a tre arcate, veramente stupendo.SETTIMA TAPPA: Castillon Du Gard - Nimes - Orange

Un altro paese che custodisce un anfiteatro sproporzionato per le sue dimensioni! Favolosi anche i giardini con le fontane e il fossato intorno. Ci dirigiamo a Orange dove ci sono altre rovine e un altro anfiteatro, ma mentre gli altri erano tutti a pianta circolare, questo è a semicerchio con il muro che delimita il palcoscenico che misura 103 mt di lunghezza per 36 di altezza!OTTAVA TAPPA: Orange - Avignone

Palazzo dei Papi - Avignone

La città dei Papi. Circondata da alte mura, mentre si arriva si notano i tetti irregolari della città e del Palais des Papes. Andiamo prima a vedere il ponte crollato e visitiamo il palazzo, ci fermiamo in un ristorantino in una delle tante piazzette di Avignone LA VACHE AUX CARREAUX (si si avete letto bene, la “vacca a quadri”!) e ci facciamo una scorpacciata di formaggi e vino del Luberon ‘Domaine Marie’ n. 1 del 2005 (buonissimo) e torniamo in hotel.NONA TAPPA: Castillon Du Gard - Gordes - Roussillon

Montagne di bauxite - Roussillon

Piazzetta dove è stato girato il film "Un'ottima annata"

Un’ora di macchina e siamo arrivati, Gordes è il paese dove è stato girato il film “UN’OTTIMA ANNATA” di Ridley Scott con Russel Crowe e Marion Cotillard (lo adoro!) veramente piccolo ma con un castello e un ottima boulangerie (pasticceria). Roussillon invece si trova su una montagna di Bauxite, minerale di colore rosso ocra molto particolare circondato dai boschi. Troviamo un negozietto di alimentari che ci ispira molto e ci regaliamo un vino del 2001 CLOS DU MONT OLIVET- CHATEAUNEUF DU PAPE, formaggi vari e fois gras.Ripartiamo prendendo la statale D900 per fare rientro a casa: veramente un’ ottima scelta, un susseguirsi di paesaggi incantevoli e villaggi, alberi maestosi incorniciano la strada e i prati hanno sfumature di verdi diversi a seconda delle coltivazioni. Passiamo per Les Maas dove c’è un ammasso montuoso a punta decisamente particolare. Les Lauzet Ubaye un lago molto suggestivo tra le montagne a 120 km da Cuneo. Larche è l’ultimo villaggio prima dell’Italia, siamo in montagna e ci sono 9 gradi rispetto ai 20 di Roussillon e le coste dei monti vicino a noi sono cosparsi di cascatelle e c’è ancora qualche rimasuglio di neve.E’ stato un viaggio incredibile e al contrario di quel che può sembrare descrivendolo così a tappe, per niente stancante. In quattro giorni abbiamo visitato tanti posti, molto romantico, ve lo consiglio!

Last week, on the occasion of the third "anniversary" with my boyfriend, we decided to do a tour in Provence and was one of the most beautiful travels ever made. Unfortunately, during the travel itinerary, it is difficult to find the internet connection and for this i could not write daily on blogs, but i thought to keep a travel diary that today i can share with you!FIRST STAGE: Parma - Eze VillageAfter 383 km we arrive in this beautiful medieval village perched on the mountains behind Monte Carlo, you leave the car and walk up between these narrow streets are home to among other things a hotel / restaurant 5 star Relais Chateaux La Chevre d'Or with a view over the sea.In any door you can find the workshop of a craftsman who works on wood or small art galleries, the shop that has struck me most scenes recreated the thumbnail or chandeliers made balloon or blimp (ideal for children's room even if the price is very high).There we immediately get from shopping to the  shop of  MATILDA B. that is at the beginning of the village: I love her room fragrances, for linens or pillows for the bed.
SECOND STAGE: Eze - S.Paul De VenceWe decide to go on the seafront of Nice and Cagnes sur Mer, we arrive at S.Paul after 35 km. The country is like Eze, but more commercial and bigger, many souvenir shops, and walls that surround the beautiful square that is home to some bistro and the track where old men play Petancle (like our bowls).
THIRD STAGE: S.Paul De Vence - Aix En ProvenceAfter spending an hour at the time we start S.Paul of Aix en Provence, we arrive at about 19.30 after 172 km. After the day we could not wait to settle into a hotel and have a good shower, We stay at "La Bastide du Cours" in the Cours Mirabeau, the main street, the hotel is in the French style, and when we get to see you there in the room , was waiting for us, a giant bathtub revisited style Louis xxv (the legs were not in gold but green fluo!) by JEAN Delafon. We fill the bath, we put a mountain of foam bath and immerse ourselves together, as opposed to what we have at home, in this we are completely covered by water, wonderful!After bath time restaurateur decide to dine in a Liberty  elegant restaurant nearby where (they say) was usually have a dinner the painter Cezanne. We choose the menu at 25 € which includes foie gras and goat cheese, potatoes and entrecote with a local wine CHATEAU DE FONSCOLOMBE (delicieux!). To finish in beauty we enjoy the tarte tatin.The mornings are dedicated to the city around, it begins to rain and we take shelter in the electric minicab running for city bus ways.
FOURTH STAGE: Aix En Provence - Camargue (ST Marie De La Mer)After a hundred kilometers we arrive in this town on the sea, pretty as a picture, is in the natural park of the Camargue, where there are the typical white horses, and salt marshes. Here the dish is the paella seems, have lunch and keep going north.
FIFTH STAGE: ST. Marie De La Mer - ArlesAmazing! After 60 km we find this little town crossed the Rhone, with many Roman ruins including an amphitheater (minicoliseum), quite impressive for this village!
SIXTH STAGE: Arles - Castillon Du GordAs we move from one country to another, the landscape is beautiful, vineyards and lavender fields (not yet flowered, to see fields of purple color you have to go around July / August). We arrive at this perfectly preserved medieval town where our hotel is the Relais & Chateaux "Le Vieux Castillon", we give a sauna and go to town just in time for dinner.
The next morning we wake up with a good storm and take the opportunity to sleep a little more, we have breakfast in the dining room by the pool which has a breathtaking view over the valley, we go out .... and the sun comes out! We go there to see near the Pont du Gard, a sample size of Roman architecture, was an aqueduct that stretched for miles and at that point it becomes a bridge of three arches, really superb.
SEVENTH STAGE: Castillon Du Gard – Nimes - OrangeAnother country which houses an amphitheater out of proportion to the size, to see the gardens with fountains and a moat around, we head to Orange where there are other ruins and another amphitheater, but the others were all circular, this is a semicircle with the wall that bounds the stage that measures 103 meters long and 36 tall!
EIGHTH STAGE: Orange - AvignonThe city of the Popes. Surrounded by high walls, as you arrive you notice the irregular roofs of the city and the Palais des Papes. We go first to see the collapsed bridge and visit the palace, we stopped at a restaurant in one of the many squares of Avignon LA VACHE AUX CARREAUX (YES, YES,you got it, the plaid cow!) And we make a meal of cheese and wine Luberon 'Domaine Marie' n. 1 of 2005 (very good) and go back to the hotel.NINTH STAGE: Castillon Du Gard – Gordes - RoussillonAn hour's drive and we arrived, Gordes is the country where the film was shot with A GOOD YEAR by Ridley Scott with Russell Crowe and Marion Cotillard (I love it!) Really small but with a castle and a good boulangerie (bakery). Roussillon is located on a mountain instead of bauxite ore, red ocher very special surrounded by woods. We find a grocery store that inspires us a lot and we give a wine of 2001 CLOS DU MONT-OLIVET CHATEAUNEUF DU PAPE, cheeses and foie gras.We leave the state road D900 to do back home: truly a 'good choice, a succession of beautiful landscapes and villages, majestic trees frame the road and the fields have different shades of green depending on the crops. We pass Les Maas where there is a mass range at very particular points. Les Lauzet Ubaye a very beautiful lake in the mountains about 120 km from Cuneo. Larche is the last village before Italy, we are in the mountains and there are 9 to 20 degrees from the Roussillon coast and the mountains around us are covered with water falls and there is still some leftover snow.It 's been an incredible journey and despite what may seem so describing it in stages, not at all tiring. In four days we visited many places, very romantic, I recommend it!
