25 Aprile: un giorno importante per l'Italia...e per Pantone!

Oggi facciamo un post festivo per celebrare due grandi avvenimenti:Il 25 Aprile per l'Italia è una data importante, il giorno della Liberazione , ma é una data ancora più importante per il mondo della grafica e del web:
50 anni fa nasceva infatti Pantone, l'azienda che qualsiasi appassionato di grafica conosce, ma che cos'è il sistema Pantone?
Il Pantone Matching System fu rilasciato nel 1963 da Lawrence Herbert, ed è il modo più economico per effettuare delle stampe in quanto riproduce il colore su una sola lastra e supporta le retinature per la creazione dei chiaro scuri.
Ho parlato in 'grafichese'? Facciamo un piccolo salto indietro:
Per effettuare la stampa di un soggetto, si usano macchine che supportano 4 lastre di colore: Ciano , Magenta , Giallo e Nero , da cui il metodo CMYK (Cyan,Magenta,Yellow,blacK)
Le lastre 'mischiano' i colori primari fino a formare un colore unico. Va da se che se per una stampa utilizziamo 5 colori diversi, avremmo bisogno per ogni porzione di 4 lastre x 5 , ovvero 20 lastre.
I colori Pantone sono miscele già preparate di colori che si possono stendere su una sola lastra, quindi se abbiamo bisogno di 5 colori diversi in una stampa utilizzeremo 1/4 delle lastre utilizzando il metodo Pantone.
Dopo essere il miglior metodo di stampa, Pantone è diventato anche e soprattutto un Brand efficace, capace di coinvolgere i suoi consumatori con molte iniziative ( pensiamo solo all' elezione del Pantone dell'anno) e di aumentare le proprie vendite stampando l' inconfondibile 'finestrella' di colore sugli oggetti più disparati: sedie, tazze , scatole ecc ecc.
Per il suo cinquantenario , l'azienda è entrata sempre più nel mood del web rilasciando una bell' infografica sui colori più utilizzati in ogni decennio e ha anche rilasciato una nuova serie di colori!Godetevela e buon lungo week end di festa!

The Pantone Matching System was released in 1963 by Lawrence Herbert, and is the cheapest way to make prints 'cause it reproduces color on one plate and supports screen rulings for the creation of light and shade.
I spoke a little bit 'strange' now? Let's take a small step back:
To print a subject we using machines that support 4 color plates: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black, from which the CMYK system.The slabs 'mix' primary colors to form a unique color. It goes that if we need a print with 5 different colors, we need 4 x 5 plates, so 20 sheets.
Pantone colors are already prepared mixtures of colors that you can stretch out on a single sheet, so if we need 5 different colors in a print will use only 5 plates!
After being the best method of printing, Pantone has also become a brand, able to engage its consumers with many initiatives (think only to the election of the Pantone of the year) and to increase its sales by printing out the' unmistakable brand on different objects: chairs, mugs, boxes, etc. etc..
For its fiftieth anniversary, the company has entered more and more into the web mood releasing an infographic for the colors used in each decade and a brand new series. Enjoy it!
