La troupe di Apes Revolution e’ andata in Liberia (Africa) per riscoprire il vero Pianeta delle Scimmie. Il documentario, realizzato da Motherboard, racconta la vita in un’area incontamninata, abitata solamente da ex scimpanzé di laboratorio, sopravvissuti a malattie e due guerre civili. Per ricostruire la vita sull’isola, sono stati intervistati gli scienziati che lavoravano nell’istituto di sperimentazione 25 anni fa.
Oltre al documentario è stata prodotta una trilogia di cortometraggi, Before the Dawn of the Apes, ispirati ai dieci anni trascorsi tra L’alba del Pianeta delle Scimmie e il suo sequel Apes Revolution – Il Pianeta delle Scimmie.
