I Kiwi hanno dominato entrambe le regate di flotta, mentre i due team di Patrizio Bertelli hanno concluso le due regate di flotta di giornata nelle primissime posizioni.
La prima giornata si era conclusa con appaiati in prima posizione in classifica New Zealand e Oracle Spithill. Dopo la seconda giornata di ieri la classifica si è ridimensionata.

Tra i protagonisti di giornata, come già anticipato, sono stati i team di Luna Rossa, che hanno sfruttato la diminuzione della brezza per raccogliere importanti piazzamenti. Luna Rossa Piranha si è messa in mostra conquistando un secondo e un terzo posto, mentre Luna Rossa Swordfish si è riscattato dopo il sesto posto della prima prova con il convincente secondo posto conquistato nella regata a seguire.
“Rispetto a ieri abbiamo trovato condizioni più familiari al livello che possiamo esprimere allo stato attuale. Peccato per l’errore che abbiamo commesso nella seconda poppa della prima regata, ci è costato un paio di posizioni ma sono contento di come abbiamo reagito e del secondo posto conquistato nella seconda prova” ha spiegato lo skipper del team italiano, Max Sirena, impegnato a bordo di Luna Rossa Swordfis.
“Abbiamo regatato bene. Nonostante qualche errore in partenza siamo stati in grado di ottenere il meglio dalla barca e siamo riusciti a rientrare in gioco piuttosto velocemente. Sono davvero colpito dalla quantità di gente che ha affollato il lungomare per seguire le regate. Anche in acqua ci sono moltissime barche spettatori. E’ una sensazione nuova per chi, come noi, è abituato a gareggiare senza il supporto del pubblico”. Queste sono state le dichiarazioni di Chris Drape del team Luna Rossa Piranha.
Il programma di oggi prevede, a partire dalle 13.30, lo svolgimento di due match race – Emirates Team New Zealand vs Artemis Racing e Energy Team vs Luna Rossa Swordfish – cui seguiranno due regate di flotta.
