Negli ultimi dieci anni ho frequentato ambienti molto diversi. Redazioni dove si scrivono pagine di "brand new", evocando sogni attraverso il consumo-possesso. Gallerie newyorchesi, con artisti affermati, che espongono alla biennale e nel super museo. Modelle che diventano stylist, nostalgiche. Università di moda con studenti che si comportano da rockstar e passeggiano fieri nel corridoio, tacco 12 muniti. Sogni inseguiti e sogni raggiunti. Artisti un po' meno conosciuti, che si struggono, nella sete di visibilità, eternamente alla ricerca di qualcosa che non sanno neanche bene loro cosa sia. Pi erre simpatiche, pi erre acide, pi erre che fanno le pi erre. Modellisti pazienti e molto professionali, sempre con il metro in spalla e le spille sulla giacca. Stilisti sconosciuti, designer giovani e sgamatissimi. E poi milioni di surfisti. Surfisti che fanno gli idraulici, gli architetti, i bagnini. L'unica cosa che conta è poter prendere "quell'aereo" o "quell'onda". Come tutti i mondi che ho conosciuto, intendiamoci, anche quello del surf è autoreferenziale. Tuttavia si respira un'atmosfera di ricerca, una tensione verso l'assoluto...
Il sogno è sempre li, sullo sfondo, a fare da protagonista.
