Info"Beowulf: The Monsters and the Critics" è stata una lezione tenuta dal prof. J.R.R. Tolkien il 25 novembre 1936 su un poema eroico in antico inglese qual è il Beowulf al Sir Israel Gollancz Memorial Lecture British Academy. È stato pubblicato la prima volta in quell'anno in Proceedings of the British Academy, e da allora è stato ristampato in numerose raccolte, la più significativa la raccolta di pubblicazioni accademiche dello stesso Tolkien, curata dal figlio Christopher nel 1983, sotto il titolo di The Monsters and the Critics and Other Essays.
Questo documento è considerato come un lavoro formativo sui moderni studi del Beowulf.
