La mattina dopo, a malincuore lasciamo Bagan e voliamo fino a Mandalay (volo durata 35 min.) Appena arrivati, raggiungiamo il Maha Gana Yon Kyaung, un monastero che ospita 1500 monaci.
The next morning, reluctantly we leave Bagan and we take a fly to Mandalay (flight 35 min.) Upon arriving, we reach immediately the Maha Gana Yon Kyaung, a monastery hosting 1500 monks.
Siamo arrivati alle 10:15 per assistere alla cerimonia del pranzo. Forse un po’ turistica, ma ne vale la pena; è davvero emozionante vedere così tanti monaci, dai più piccoli ai più grandi, partecipare insieme a questo momento così importante della loro giornata.
We arrived at 10:15 to attend the ceremony of lunch. Maybe a little ‘touristy, but it’s worth it. Is really exciting to see so many monks, participate together in this important moment of their day.

Successivamente, prendiamo una barchina (8 K a testa a/r) e raggiungiamo Ava (Inwa), antica capitale della Birmania. Pranziamo lì, e dopo giro con il cavallo.
Later, we take a small boat (8 K to head a / r) to reach Ava (Inwa), an ancient capital of Burma. We have lunch there, and after lap with the horse.

Dopo, prima di rientrare a Mandalay, ci facciamo una bellissima passeggiata sull’U Bein’s Bridge ad Amarapura.

A Mandalay dormiamo al Peakok Lodge dove passiamo due notti (55$ a notte con colazione). La sera ceniamo entrambe le sere lì, essendo il coprifuoco dalle 22 in poi.
Il giorno successivo, partiamo, in barca (partenza alle 9 e ritorno alle 13), per Mingun (1 h), antica capitale reale, nota per l’enorme pagoda incompiuta, Mingun Paya. Voluta dal Re Bodawpaya, la sua costruzione si interruppe dopo la morte del sovrano. Avrebbe dovuto raggiungere i 150 metri di altezza. Inoltre, terribili terremoti la danneggiarono negli anni.
In Mandalay, we slept at the Peakok Lodge where we spent two nights ($ 55 per night with breakfast). In the evening, we had dinner both nights there, because of the curfew from 22 onwards.
The next day, we took a boat (starting at 9 am and return at 13) to reach Mingun (1 h), the ancient royal capital known for the huge unfinished pagoda, Mingun Paya. Commissioned by King Bodawpaya, its construction was stopped after the death of the sovereign. It would have to reach 150 meters in height. Moreover, terrible earthquakes have damaged it over the years.

Al centro dell’edificio si trova una grande statua di Buddha, interamente ricoperta di foglie d’oro che i fedeli continuano ad attaccare regolarmente.
