Il giorno seguente, lasciamo Mandalay con un volo per Heho. E’ mattina presto e mentre ci prepariamo per partire, incrociamo un gruppo di monaci che iniziano la loro giornata, andando a chiedere riso in offerta.
The next day, we left Mandalay with a flight to Heho. It’s early morning and while we were leaving, we met a group of monks who start their day, going to demand rice on offer.
Una volta atterrati, raggiungiamo le Grotte di Pindaya ( 2 ore in macchina).
Once landed, we reach the Pindaya Caves (2 hours by car).
Lungo il tragitto scopriamo una regione molto rigogliosa, colline, campi coltivati, soprattutto patate.
Along the way, we discovered a region very lush hill, cultivated fields, especially potatoes.
L’ingresso al sito è di 10$ a persona. Le grotte, in roccia calcarea, sono ben note per ospitare al loro interno svariate statue di Buddha, circa 8000, donate da moltissimi fedeli, non solo birmani ma provenienti da tutto il mondo. Si tratta ovviamente di un luogo sacro.
The entrance to the site is $ 10 per person. The caves in the limestone, are well known to house inside them several statues of Buddha, 8000, donated by many faithful not only Burmese but from all over the world. This is obviously a sacred place.
La nostra direzione finale è stata il Lago Inle. Lungo la strada, ci siamo fermati a vedere il Shwe Yaunghwe Kyaung, un monastero, anch’esso, in teak, sito a Nyaungshwe. Bello e affascinante, con le sue caratteristiche finestre ovali. Ci è piaciuto molto.
Our final direction was the Inle Lake. Along the way, we stopped to see the Yaunghwe Shwe Kyaung, a monastery, also in teak, located in Nyaungshwe. Beautiful and charming, with its characteristic oval windows. We loved it.
Da Nyaungshwe, prendiamo una barchina e, dopo 45 minuti di navigazione, arriviamo al nostro hotel, in mezzo al Lago Inle, il Paramount Inle Resort (3 notti 171 $ con colazione) totalmente sospeso sul lago, costruito su palafitte.
From Nyaungshwe, we take a boat and, after 45 minutes of sailing, we arrive at our hotel, in the middle of Inle Lake, the Paramount Inle Resort (3 nights $ 171 with breakfast), built on stilts, completely suspended over the lake.

The following morning, tour of the lake with a small boat.
Primo stop Ywama, con il suo mercato galleggiante.

Dopo visita a Nampan, alle fabbriche di tessuti, di sigari, e barche.
After Nampan and the factories of textiles, cigars, and boats.
Pranzo e poi in barca visitiamo i tomato gardens e i floating gardens.
Lunch and then visit to the tomato’s gardens and floating gardens.
Il secondo giorno sul lago Inle lo passiamo di nuovo in barca. Questa volta, visitiamo la Phaung Daw Oo Paya con il suo vivace mercato.
The second day on Inle Lake we went around by boat. We visited the Phaung Daw Oo Paya with its bustling market.
Dopo è la volta di Inthein e la sua Shwe Inn Thein Paya.
Later, came the turn of Inthein and its Shwe Inn Thein Paya.
La sera, nonostante avessimo prenotato la notte al Paramount Inle Resort , decidiamo di cambiare hotel e di trovarne uno direttamente a Nyaungshwe.
Questa scelta è stata dovuta al fatto che il giorno dopo saremmo partiti per un trekking di due giorni, deciso lì per lì. Essendo la partenza all’alba, abbiamo preferito evitare l’ora di navigazione la mattina stessa.
Così facendo, abbiamo scelto l’Inle Apex hotel (40 $ a notte con colazione).
La mattina, ore 8:00, partenza per il trekking. Guidati da Timo, abbiamo vissuto un’esperienza meravigliosa. 6 h circa di camminata al giorno, a contatto solo con la natura.
In the evening, despite the night booked at the Paramount Inle Resort, we decided to change hotel, directly in Nyaungshwe.
This choice was due to the fact that the day after we would be leaving for a two-day trek; we decided to do it at the last minute. Since the early start, we preferred to avoid the hour of boat from Inle Lake.
So, we chose the Inle Apex hotel ($ 40 per night with breakfast).
In the morning, at 8:00 am, we departed for the trek. Led by Timo, it was an amazing experience.
About 6 hours of walking a day, only in contact with nature.
La meta? Un monastero per i monaci novizi, composto da bambini dai 7 agli 11 anni circa (ogni bambino maschio deve passare questo periodo in monastero e decidere se continuare sulla via della fede o no).
Abbiamo cucinato nei loro ambienti e dormito all’interno del monastero, su un letto fatto solo di coperte, a lume di candela, con le preghiere dei piccoli monaci che ci tenevano compagnia. Spettacolare!
The destination? A monastery for monks, novices, inhabited by children aged 7 to 11 years (every male child must spend this time in the monastery and decide whether to continue on the path of faith or not).
We cooked in their rooms and slept inside the monastery, on a bed only made of blankets, in candlelight, with the prayers of little monks which kept us company. Spectacular!
Non potevamo concludere il nostro viaggio in Birmania in un modo migliore!
