La mia recensione★★★★★Semplicemente WOW.Ho letto questo libro in pochissimo tempo nonostante la mole di pagine. E devo dire che si è rivelata una lettura molto interessante e coinvolgente.Tralasciando la parte "teen" che comunque non salta molto all'occhio, questo libro è un concentrato d'adrenalina.
Nel mondo di Mare Barrow la popolazione è divisa tra argentei - ossia i "ricchi" ed i privilegiati, con poteri magici - ed i rossi - la povertà e manovalanza .La principale differenza tra loro sta nel colore del sangue: argento per gli argentei e rosso per i rossi.Questo mondo non è, a mio avviso, un mondo distopico o post'apocalittico. E' un mondo fantasy creato ad hoc per l'occasione, dove i luoghi ed i vari paesi hanno nomi fantastici che a tratti ricordano Harry Potter per come suonano quando vengono letti.
Sebbene possa rammentare le ormai tanto note "lotte contro il potere" di Hunger Games o Divergent, questa storia è entrambe ma anche nessuna delle due.La parte rosa, a differenza di altri, è in questo libro soltanto accennata ed è comunque messa molto in ombra. Quello che salta piuttosto all'occhio è la lotta per il potere: come dice il proverbio, "allevare la serpe in seno" è ciò che meglio riassume tutto di questa storia.
A tratti fuorviati dalle sontuosità dei luoghi e dai colori sgargianti che ci vengono descritti, anche se con minimi ma esaustivi termini, non ci rendiamo conto che l'"imprevisto" sta sempre dietro l'angolo.La bravura dell'autrice nel redigere la trama sta nell'aver creato il colpo di scena che nessuno si aspettava, tantomeno io. Per quasi tutta la durata del libro mi sono figurata un finale che non è arrivato; quello che invece Victoria Aveyard ci ha dato è molto meglio. Crudele e a tratti brutale, è quel finale che non ci fa lamentare del fatto di dover aspettare l'uscita del seguito, perchè sappiamo già che non sarà una storia a sé stante pubblicata soltanto a fine di incasso, ma è una continuazione vera e propria.
Per conto mio, non vedo l'ora di leggere il seguito. Se questo libro è stato, come ho già detto, adrenalinico, il seguito prevedo lo sarà di più. Vi consiglio perciò questa lettura. Non ve ne pentirete.

My review★★★★★Just WOW.
I read this book in no time despite the number of the pages, it was truly addictive.
Except for the "teen" part that anyway won't stand out that much, this book is an adrenaline burst.
In Mare Barrow's world the people is divided into the silvers - rich and privileged nobles with magical powers - and the reds - the poor commoners.
The main difference between them is the colour of their blood: silver for the silvers, red for the reds. ("you don't say!")
It is not a dystopic or post-apocalyptic world. It's a fantasy world created specifically for the occasion, where countries and places have strange names that for a while reminded me of Harry Potter.
Taking inspiration from the well known "fights against the power" from the Hunger Games and Divergent, the story reminds me of both but also none of them.
Love is not a central theme and for a good part of the story it is overshadowed by the events. What's really standing out is the fight for and against the power: in Italy we have a saying that best sums up the point of this story and it is litterally "to breed the snake by your chest".
Misguided by the luxuries of the locations and the bright colours briefly but precisely described to us, we can't see that danger is always behind the next corner in this book.
The writer's ability in planning the plot lays in the twist you won't be able to foresee! For almost the whole lenght of the book I expected an ending that never came; the one given by Victoria Aveyard is so much better! Cruel and somehow brutal, it's the ending that won't make us complain for the wait for the next chapter, as we already know it will be a true sequel, not a stand-alone story published for the money making purpose only.
Personally I'm looking forward to read this sequel. As this book was, as I said, an adrenaline rush, I expect the next chapter to be even more interesting. So i suggest you to read this book. You won't regret it.
