La settimana appena trascorsa ero nelle Grande Mela e passeggiando per le strade di New York ad un certo punto scorgo questo simpatico terzetto di libri appoggiati a terra...
Apro la prima pagina di uno di questi tre volumi e un piccolo adesivo scritto in inglese recita così: "Ciao! Io sono un libro molto speciale. Come vedi ho viaggiato nel mondo e ho incontrato molti amici. Spero di trovare in te un altro nuovo amico. Per favore vai su www.BookCrossing.com e inserisci il mio numero ID identificativo. Scoprirai dove sono stato e chi mi ha letto, e potrai dire loro che sono finito in buone mani...le tue. Dunque ... LEGGIMI e poi RILASCIAMI nuovamente!"
Ecco un'iniziativa veramente degna di nota, presente già da anni oltreoceano, esattamente dal 2001 quando Ron Hornbaker e sua moglie decisero di mettere in piedi un sito in cui tracciare gli spostamenti dei libri "rilasciati" in strada per essere condivisi con chiunque volesse prenderli.
In questo modo i libri cominciano a viaggiare per il mondo, passare di mano in mano in mano, per poi essere rilasciati in paesi di versi...un concetto semplice ma che sta riscuotendo molto successo e che soprattutto sta crescendo anche in Italia. Scambiarsi libri crea condivisione, scambio di idee, crescita e rapporti. A New York avrò incrociato almeno una decina di libri in strada, lasciati lì in attesa di essere prelevati da mani nuove.A livello pratico per "rilasciare" un libro attraverso BookCrossing.com bisogna registrarsi al sito, e inserire il libro che otterrà un BCID ossia un codice identificativo. Con questo codice si potranno tracciare gli spostamenti del libro, grazie alle segnalazioni che chi ritrova il libro è invitato a dare dall'adesivo citato sopra. Chi entra in possesso del libro infatti può decidere di segnalarlo, leggerlo e rilasciarlo nuovamente, anche senza segnalazione online in caso non abbia accesso alla rete.
La cosa fondamentale è che il libro non si fermi e che continui a viaggiare di mano in mano, per il mondo...

Opening the first page of one of these three volumes, a small sticker written in English says:
"Hello, I am a very special book. You see, I'm traveling around the world making new friends. I hope I've met another friend in you. Please go to www.BookCrossing.com and enter my BCID number. You'll discover where I've been and who has read me, and can let them know I'm safe in your here in your hands. Then ... READ and RELEASE me!".
That's really an initiative worthy of note, this already for years overseas, exactly since 2001 when Ron Hornbaker and his wife decided to put up a site on which to trace the movements of the books "released" into the street to be shared with anyone who wanted to take .
