After Keira Knightley, Geraldine Chaplin will star as Coco Chanel in a new film directed by Karl Lagerfeld to be screened at the label’s upcoming collection which will be shown in Dallas Fair Park next month. “The Return” retraces the reopening of the couture house in 1954 in Paris, and the importance of the role played by United States. Chanel’s comeback collection, unveiled, in the 30-minute scriptless film, in a replica of her rue Cambon studio, was deemed an utter failure except for Dallas-based Neiman Marcus.
“It’s America who rediscovered [Chanel],” Karl Lagerfeld said, “so this is a thank you. Without America, she would have closed the entire operation.”
Rupert Everett has been hired to play the role of an American TV journalist, Heidi Mount as Marlene Dietrich and Amanda Harlech as American Vogue fashion editor Bettina Ballard.
