cintura abbellita - adorned belt

vorrei pubblicare i progetti subito dopo che li faccio, ma ho un sacco di progetti che ho fatto in passato da pubblicare ancora e mi sento di dover scrivere di quelli prima di dimenticare i dettagli. la settimana scorsa ho cucito due gonne da magliette che non usavo più. mi piacciono tantissimo e abbiamo fatto mille foto, ma ho il disco rigido pieno e non riesco a scaricare le foto. quindi nel frattempo, me ne approfito e scrivo di quei progetti vecchi. questo qui ho fatto usando il tutorial di between the lines.
i would really like to publish my projects right after i finish them, but i have so many older projects that i just haven't been about to get around to publishing, that i feel like i should write about those before i forget everything. last week i sewed two skirts from t-shirts that i didn't use anymore. i just love them and we took tons of pictures, but my hard disk is full and i can't download the pictures. so in the meantime i will write about some of those older projects. here we have one made using between the lines' tutorial.

quando ho visto la cintura di pascale, ho pensato subito a questa cintura che era compresa ad una gonna comprato tempo fa. la gonna la uso (e avrò qualcosa da postare anche su di lei, quando l'avrò finito), ma non mi piacciono molto le cinture sottili così, quindi è rimasta nel armadio.
when i saw pascale's belt, i immediately thought of this belt that came with a skirt i bought ages ago. i still wear the skirt (and i'll have something to post about that, too, once i finish it), but i really don't like thin belts like this, so it was just hanging out in my wardrobe.

è un progetto semplice. basta fare dei fori nella cintura con la pinza fustellatrice (quell'affare nella foto sopra). subito dopo avermela comprata su ebay, ne ho vista una nel negozio di 50 centesimi vicino a casa mia che costava ancora di meno. comunque, si trovano in giro.
it's a pretty easy project. all you do is punch holes along the belt with a leather punch (that thing in the picture above). right after i bought mine on ebay, i saw one in my local dollar store, which obviously cost less. in any case, you can probably find one relatively easily.

poi si tagliano delle strisce di stoffa. mi pare di averle tagliate di 1 cm di larghezza, ma non mi ricordo bene. (ecco perché devo scrivere subito i post!!) è molto utile usare la rotella per tagliarla.
then you cut strips of fabric. i think i cut mine 1 cm wide, but i don't really remember for sure. (and this is why i need to write my posts right away!!) it's very useful to use a rotary cutter.

si infila un ago largo e via! è meglio non fare strisce troppo lunghe perché dopo averle passate molte volte attraverso i fori, cominciano a farsi un po' brutti. le estremità delle strisce si possono passare sotto le altre strisce sul restro della cintura.
thread a wide-eyed needle with your strips and get working! it's better not to cut strips that are too long because after threading them through a bunch of holes, they start getting worn out and ugly. you can slip the ends of the strips under the other ones on the back of the belt.

ed ecco fatto! ora mi piace molto! a parte un piccolo problema: la mia cintura in omaggio con la gonna è di talmente tanto schifo di qualità che i vestiti sotto si macchiano di nero. come direbbe homer simpson: DOH!
