Mapled pear and apple crumble with walnuts
I’m back with another crumble idea… when i posted the plum crumble i remembered i had also this one waiting to be posted! …it surely deserves a post cos this crumble is sooo good!I found the recipe on The Guardian which linked as original source the website whatjoannaate.com …when i read walnuts and maple syrup i fell in love with it and i quickly made it! ….the fruit is juicy, rich in maple flavours and the crumble is nutty and rustic! …love it!!!
The only differences from original recipe is that i used buckwheat flour instead of spelt one and i used less fruit …i couldn’t fit more than this in my baking dish!
Once again another quick and easy idea for a dessert, perfect for unexpected guest or urgent sweet cravings!
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 apples, peeled and chopped into chunks
- 3 pears, peeled, cored and chopped into chunks
- 3 tbsp maple syrup
For the crumble topping:
- 70 gr chilled butter, cubed
- 50 gr plain flour
- 50 gr buckwheat flour
- 70 gr light brown sugar
- 50 gr walnuts, chopped
- 50 gr oats
To make the topping, rub the butter into the flours with your fingertips or blend in a food processor until it resembles breadcrumbs. Stir in the sugar, walnuts and oats. Melt the butter in a saucepan together with apples and pears. Cook for 5 minutes or so over a medium heat until they start to soften. Add the maple syrup and cook for a couple more minutes. Put the fruit into a baking dish, then sprinkle with the crumble topping. Bake in preheated oven at 200° for about 30 minutes or until golden.
