CX500 Bobber by BBCR

At Barn Built Cafe Racer in Owosso - Minnesota (USA), they are specialized in CX500 custom builds. This one is based on a 1980 donor bike and was completed last winter, but most of the components are now available in kit.

Main specs. The frame was modified to fit the seat and a new rear shock, prepped, primed and painted with a Bill Hirsch base coat, which is apparently the hot rod builders preference in USA. The primer and clear coat is SprayMax 2K. The wheels, swing arm were treated in the same way. The front forks were completely rebuilt with 15w fork oil and finished as the rest of the chassis components. The engine was repainted. All the details and bolts were polished if not replaced with new ones. The new aluminum foot pegs are custom rebuilt. The custom exhaust system with 2 into 1 pipes is coupled with SS muffler from Lossa Engineering. The front end includes a custom fabricated Aluminum tacho instrument installed on a modified upper triple plate. The headlight brackets and Renthal grips are new. Front and rear fenders were custom made. The master cylinder is a new aftermarket part with polished and rebuilt piston brake system. A new clubman bar required shortened cables. Neutral and oil light were replaced and an electronic oil thermometer gauge was installed on the crankcase. The ignition was relocated in the swing arm. The gel battery and wiring system is hidden under the engine in the battery box. Led brake and turn signal lights are new aftermarket components. The side stand is from a cbr900 that was shortened and the frame modified to fit. The sport tires are Whitehall. Barn Built Café Racer sells a cx500 bobber kit that includes most of the components needed to replicate this transformation.  

Principali interventi. Il telaio è stato modificato per accogliere la nuova sella monoposto e il nuovo ammortizzatore posteriore. E’ stato preparato, trattato e verniciato con una mano di fondo Bill Hirsch, che è apparentemente il prodotto preferito dai costruttori di Hot Rod in USA. Il primer e la vernice trasparente utilizzati sono SprayMax 2K. I cerchi e il forcellone sono stati trattati nello stesso modo. La forcella è stata completamente revisionata nell’idraulica con olio 15W e rifinita come il resto delle componenti ciclistiche. Anche il motore è stato riverniciato. Tutti i dettagli e bulloni sono stati lucidati se non sostituiti con nuovi. Le nuove pedane in alluminio sono realizzate artigianalmente. L'impianto di scarico custom 2 in 1 è accoppiato con un silenziatore SS fornito da Lossa Engineering. L’avantreno accoglie un nuovo tachimetro in alluminio installato sulla piastra superiore della forcella modificata. I supporti faro e le manopole Renthal sono nuovi. Parafanghi anteriori e posteriori sono stati realizzati artigianalmente. La pompa freno è nuova aftermarket con sistema frenante ricostruito. Il nuovo manubrio stile condor ha richiesto cavi accorciati. Spia del folle e dell'olio sono state sostituite e un termometro olio elettronico è stato installato sul carter. L'accensione è stata trasferita sul forcellone. La batteria gel e il cablaggio sono nascosti sotto il motore in un apposito vano. Indicatori di direzione e stop sono nuovi componenti aftermarket a LED. Il cavalletto laterale è di una CBR900 accorciato e il telaio è stato modificato per adattarlo. I pneumatici sportivi sono Whitehall. Barn Built Café Racer vende un kit bobber CX500 che comprende la maggior parte dei componenti necessari per replicare la trasformazione.
