Edie Brickell & New Bohemians - "What I am"

Edie Brickell & New Bohemians sono un gruppo folk rock statunitense formatosi in Texas a metà degli anni 80'. Sono conosciuti soprattutto per il loro successo del 1988: la canzone "What I Am" tratta dall'album Shooting Rubberbansd at the Stars. Vennero spesso paragonati ai REM, in quel periodo; ricordiamo che Stipe & Co. avevano appena rilasciato "Green" dopo aver già fatto esperienza con album come "Chronic Town", "Murmur" e "Reckoning". Dopo il secondo album, "Ghost of a Dog" del 1990, la leader, cantante ed autrice del gruppo Edie Brickell ha lasciato il gruppo sposando Paul Simon. Con "Strabger Things" del 2006 abbiamo avuto un timido accenno di reunion, mai realmente avvenuta.
Quello che vi prorpongo, come avrete intuito, è il brano che ha consacrato la band. Un classico che tutti conosceranno: "What I Am".

Good, classic song ;)La ricerca delle sonorità giuste e dell'orecchiabilità non è sempre un male. Questa è, secondo me, la giusta musica da mainstream.
