Nico Rosberg Mercedes AMG

Sei piloti diversi in pole position in Belgio dal 2009 a oggi: domani sarà Nico Rosberg a partire dal vertice dello schieramento. In una lotta tutta Mercedes, l’attuale leader del campionato ha battuto il compagno Lewis Hamilton al termine di una qualifica disputatasi in condizioni difficili, fra pioggia e grande variabilità. Ma sempre con una Mercedes capace di imporre un vantaggio di due secondi al giro a tutti i Team rivali.

Preceduta da un violento temporale, la sessione di qualifica è iniziata in condizioni non certo estive: 19° la temperatura dell’asfalto, 10° quella ambientale, e pista completamente bagnata. I piloti sono usciti dai box con pneumatici Cinturato Blue wet, per poi passare al Verde intermedio quando l’asfalto ha iniziato ad asciugarsi.

Sempre pneumatici intermedi in Q2, quando il circuito ha continuato ad asciugarsi consentendo un generale miglioramento dei tempi. Situazione che è continuata in Q3, quando la chiave vincente per puntare alla pole position è stata quella di iniziare l’ultimo giro disponibile appena prima della bandiera a scacchi. A quel punto la pista era più asciutta e veloce, ma mai al punto da permettere di passare a gomme slick.

Come risultato di questa situazione, i piloti possono contare su tutti gli pneumatici slick nuovi in ottica della gara di domani, il che consentirà una possibile varietà di strategie.

Paul Hembery, Direttore Motorsport Pirelli:

“Il lavoro che aspetta i Team non è semplice: la prevista gara su asciutto dopo le qualifiche bagnate di oggi fa sì che i dati tecnici raccolti potrebbero non essere di grande aiuto domani. La maggiore difficoltà in qualifica non è stata tanto la pioggia, quanto la sua intermittenza e il suo cadere più in certe zone del circuito che in altre. Come sempre, queste condizioni hanno regalato una bellissima battaglia per la pole, decisa soprattutto dal momento scelto per l’ultimo attacco prima della bandiera a scacchi. Per la gara ci aspettiamo due pit-stop, anche se alcuni Team possono pensare a una strategia a tre soste, considerato che la pioggia di oggi fa sì che tutti abbiamo a disposizione pneumatici slick nuovi a sufficienza per la gara e possano quindi pensare a strategie alternative.”

Le previsioni di strategia Pirelli:

Il GP del Belgio si corre su 44 giri: a gara asciutta, e dato che tutti, per regolamento, avranno a disposizione tutti gli pneumatici slick, la strategia ideale dovrebbe essere su due pit-stop. La strategia più veloce è abbastanza chiara: partenza su gomme Soft; pit-stop attorno al 15° giro per un nuovo set di Soft; seconda sosta verso il giro 29 per gomme Medie. Strategie a 1 o 3 pit-stop sono teoricamente possibili, ma non offrono vantaggi apprezzabili.
