Frescoed Trento - an ancient and colored town in the East Alps

Sono stata a Trento molti anni fa. Ancora si ascoltavano gli 883 e giravano i Nokia 3330. Anche da piccola, mi era molto piaciuta, con la sua ampia piazza, i colori delle case, la luce tersa.Pur essendo a ridosso delle montagne e pur sentendo questo legame non si tratta né di una cittadina paragonabile a quelle valdostane né a quelle località delle dolomiti più urbanizzate.
Aria fresca e pulita in una città con una storia che lascia intravedere le sue radici romane fino ai segni del rinascimento e delle guerre mondiali.
Chiaramente le fotografie che seguono non risalgono al mio viaggio di anni fa, ma ad un weekend recente in cui sono stati i miei genitori in occasione del Festival della Montagna all'Interno del Trento Film Festival.Riconoscerete lo stile fotografico che vi avevo mostrato nella serie su Vicenza.
I was at Trent many years ago. At that time people still listened to the 883 and used the Nokia 3330. Even as a child I liked so much the city - with its large square, the colors of the houses, the clear light.
Despite being surrounded by the mountains and yet feeling this connection with the territory, Trent is neither a town comparable to those of Valle d'Aosta, nor to those more urbanized of the Dolomites.
Fresh and clean air in a city with a history that reveals its Roman roots, marks of the Renaissance and from the World Wars.
Of course the photographs that follow do not date back to my trip, but they're from a recent weekend in which my parents were at the Festival of the Mountain, into Trento Film Festival.

Piazza Duomo è un'ampia piazza, cuore della città, nella quale a circondare la Cattedrale di San Vigilio, vi sono le stupende Case Cazuffi-Rella: due residenze del XVI secolo ricchissime di affreschi (attribuiti al Fogolino) sulla facciata. Pare che anche nel Trevigiano sia tipico dipingere le facciate delle abitazioni in concomitanza con eventi importanti. A Trento è particolare il fatto che i soggetti dipinti siano laici, rispetto a quelli normalmente realizzati delle valli.
Piazza Duomo is a large square, the heart of the city, in which Cathedral of St. Vigil is surrounded by the beautiful Cazuffi-Rella's houses: two houses of the sixteenth century, rich in frescoes (attributed to Fogolino) on the facade. It seems that even in Treviso is typical to paint the facades of houses in connection with important events. In particular, in Trent the subjects that are painted are lay, than those usually made in the valleys in religious themes.

Inoltre, nel centro della piazza, c'è la Fontana del Nettuno, su progetto dello scultore Francesco Antonio Giongo nella seconda metà del '700. E' caratterizzata da un meccanismo ideato dallo scultore di scorrimento dell'acqua senza interruzioni ed è situata dove ad un tempo si collocava la "macchina del fuochi" durante la festa di San Vigilio - patrono della città.

Moreover, in the center of the square, there is the Fontana del Nettuno, designed by the sculptor Francesco Antonio Giongo in the second half of '700. And it's characterized by a sliding mechanism of the water flow without interruption designed by sculptor and it is situated where it was put the "car of the fires" during the feast of St. Vigil - the patron saint of the city.

Il castello del Buonconsiglio è un altro sito importante per la città di Trento. Era originariamente sede di un castrum romano. La tipicità è data dalla sua struttura, risultato di una plurisecolare aggregazione di sezioni e strutture risalenti a secoli diversi. Oggi è uno dei più grandi complessi fortificati delle Alpi.
The castle Buonconsiglio is another important site for the city of Trent. It was originally home to a Roman fort. The typical structure is given by the result of a centuries-old combination of sections and structures dating back different centuries. Today is one of the largest fortified complex in the Alps.

A Trento i miei genitori se la sono spassata. Quindi non ci vorrà molto tempo prima che io vi parli del più importante birrificio trentino e del pastificio tricolore e dell'hotel frutto di un aneddoto particolare in cui i miei hanno pernottato. Pronti a tenere le antenne alzate?

In Trento, my parents had a great time. So do not take long before I tell you about the most important brewery in Trent and tricolor pasta shop and about a hotel in which my parents have spent the night, that is product of a particular anecdote. Are you ready to keep in touch?
