Il profumo è una delle caratteristiche principali dei garofanini, che assieme alla facilità di propagazione ottenuta da talea prelevata dai forti germogli non fioriti svilppati da maggio ad agosto, ne hanno decretato il successo facendola diventare per lungo tempo una delle piante più diffuse ed apprezzate. Coltivata nei giardini e nei terrazzi di mezzo mondo il suo fascino ha attraversato la storia. Allevati in vaso, i garofanini anticipano di qualche settimana la fioritura rispetto alle stesse piante messe a dimora in piena terra, e offrono al contempo maggiore facilità di godere della loro fragranza, immaginatevi seduti nel vostro terrazzo inebriati dall’intenso profumo dolce e speziato.

Di facile coltivazione chiedono sole e terreno un po’ sabbioso provvisto di buon drenaggio, detestano l’umidità e se ricorderete di eliminare i fiori appassiti per stimolare la formazione di quelli nuovi, vi ripagheranno con generosa fioritura”.
