Simonide Di Ceo diceva che “la pittura è una poesia silenziosa” ed è proprio con questa frase che vogliamo salutare il grande artista Pino Daeni. Le sue opere, che molte di noi hanno apprezzato grazie ai romanzi rosa, sono state spesso fonte di ispirazione per le nostre letture. Quante volte abbiamo guardato una cover e sognato di essere al posto della donna ritratta? Credo che possiamo tranquillamente dire moltissime volte…
Le opere di Daeni sono straordinarie e non ci riferiamo solo alle cover dei romanzi ma anche alle splendide tele che fanno parte della sua collezione. Nei suoi quadri troviamo spiagge assolate, bambini, ma soprattutto donne, ritratte in tutta la loro bellezza e sensualità. La sua tecnica elegante, i suoi colori caldi ed emozionanti e il sottile ma semplice approccio col soggetto rendono il suo stile unico ed inimitabile ma soprattutto indimenticabile.

His works, which many among us learned to love thanks to romance novels covers, have often been a source of inspiration for our readings. How many times have we been staring at a cover dreaming to be at the heroines' place? Many, many times, for sure…
Daeni's works are great, and by "works" we do not mean only covers, but also the gorgeous paintings which mahe his collection. Here we can find sunny beaches, children, but especially womene, potrayed in all their sensuality and beauty. His elegant technique, his warm, deep colours and his subtle but immediate way of approaching the subjects make his style utterly unique and inimitable, but above all, unforgettable.

Formatosi in Italia presso l'Istituto d'Arte di Bari e successivamente all'Accademia di Brera, Giuseppe Dangelico, in arte Pino Daeni (Italia, 8 Novembre 1939 - US, 25 Maggio 2010) si perfezionò nella pittura di nudi e figure, con uno stile che mostrava influenze Pre-Raffaelliane e Macchiaiole.
Dopo essere diventato un artista di successo in Italia, Pino emigrò negli Stati Uniti, alla ricerca di maggiore libertà espressiva e opportunità. Venne presto scoperto dalla famosa Galleria Borghi, che organizzò per lui numerose mostre a New York e a Boston.
Le case editrici Dell e Zebra furono attratte dai dipinti romantici di Pino, e quest'ultima nel 1980 gli commissionò la prima illustrazione per una copertina, cui seguirono altre tremila copertine per le maggiori case editrici americane, Zebra, Banbam, Simon & Schuster, Harlequin, Penquin e Dell.

Trained in Italy at the Art institute of Bari, and later at Milan’s Academy of Brera, Pino Daeni, born Giuseppe Dangelico (Italy, November 8 1939 - US, May 25 2010) perfected his skills painting nudes and figure studies heavily influenced by the Pre-Raphaelites and Macchiaioli.
After establishing himself as a successful artist in his native land, Pino immigrated to the United States, seeking more artistic freedom and opportunity. He was soon discovered by the distinguished Borghi Gallery, which gave several exhibitions for him in New York and Boston.
Pino's romantic paintings caught the attention of both Dell and Zebra Book Publishers. In 1980 Zebra commissioned him to do his first book cover; his popularity grew within the literary community and he became the artist-in-demand for Zebra, Bantam, Simon, and Schuster, Harlequin, Penquin USA and Dell. To date, Pino has illustrated 3,000 books; his style has dominated the market.
