Ciao. Mi chiamo Sureeyapon Sri-ampai (Bangkok, Thailandia 1976) Sono un artista visivo specializzato in fotografia d’arte. Ho iniziato a fare fotografia quando avevo 15 anni e nel 1994, ho deciso di studiare fotografia e prendendo il B.F.A (fotografia) presso l’Università Rangsit. Ho tenuto diverse mostre dal 1996 ad oggi. Incluse mostre come singolo, mostra collettive e come artista ospite. E mi son ripromesso di dedicare la mia vita alla fotografia.

Tell us about yourself, presented to the WSF readers.

Hello. My names Sureeyapon Sri-ampai (b. Bangkok, Thailand 1976) I’m a visual artist specialized in fine art photography. I started out doing photography when I was 15. In 1994, I decided to study in photography and received B.F.A (photography) degree from Rangsit University, and held several exhibitions during 1996 to present. Included solo works / group exhibition / guest artist. And promising myself to devote my life to photography.

Perché la fotografia?

Ho la passione per la fotografia…nella sua definizione. Perché ha una storia e un’estetica sue. Non si tratta solo di fotografie, ma è il “mondo della fotografia” che amo.

Why photography?

I love the passion in photography.. in the definition of it. Because it has a history and aesthetics by itself. It’s not just about photographs, but it’s a “World of Photography” that I love.

C’è della malinconia palpabile nelle tue fotografie…è così?

Nel mondo reale, nella vita reale, io non sono un uomo felice. Ci sono molti motivi…dolore e la sofferenza nella mia vita. E può essere l’unico modo per guarire il mio sentimento e ripristinare la mia anima. Posso affermare che tutto quello che si vede nei miei lavori, è quello che sono. Essa riflette quello che penso, come mi sento, e anche quello che voglio dire attraverso di essa, la passione dentro. Ogni foto è diversa, ovviamente, dipende dall’emozione, dal pensiero e da quello che sento in quel momento. Inoltre anche dalle esperienze vissute.

There is a melancholy which you touch in your photographs … is that it?

In a real world, real life, I’m not a happy man. There’re many things .. pain and suffering in my life. And it may be the only way to heal my feeling and restore my soul. I can state that everything you see in my works, they are what I am. It reflects what I think, how I feel, and also what I want to say through them, the passion within. Every photo is different, of course, it depends on emotion, thought and what I feel at the moment. Moreover, it including to my experiences that come with my age.

Quando e in che modo, l’arte è entrata nella tua vita?

Non so quando. Come ho già detto, io non sono felice su questo pianeta. Ma nell’arte, posso immaginare tutto quello che voglio. Immaginare tanto, il più noioso, in realtà, e mi sento bene così nell’essere felici nel mondo fantastico attraverso la parola “Arte”. Questa è la mia realtà.

When and in what way, art has entered your life?

I don’t know when. Like I’ve already said, I’m not happy on this planet. But in art, I can imagine everything that I want. The more imagine, the more boring in reality, and I’m ok with that and be happy in the fantasy world through the word “Art”. That’s my own reality.

Spesso uno scatto fotografico riesce a descrivere più di molte parole. Che cosa è necessario per poter cogliere l’attimo giusto?

E’ solo una questione di tempi e destrezza con la fotocamera. Ma l’unica cosa importante è che può darti quello di cui hai realmente bisogno?…Se la risposta è sì…quello è il momento giusto per me.

A photograph often can describe more than many words. What is needed to seize the right moment?

It’s just a matter of timing and dexterity in your camera. But the one important thing is it can give you what you really need? .. If the answer is yes .. that’s the right moment for me.

Cos’è per te la Bellezza?

Per me…qualsiasi cosa, non solo visivamente, ma quando tocca il cuore, è sempre una bellezza, in ogni luogo e in ogni momento.

What is for you the beauty?

For me .. anything, not just visually, but when it was touch by heart, it’s always a beauty, in every place and every moment.

Ci sono fotografi che ti hanno influenzato?

Io non ho una persona specifica. Ma le idee che mi influenzano sono per lo più dell’Avanguardia e gli artisti del Dadaismo e Surrealismo. Sono impressionato dalle opere di Man Ray.

There are photographers who have influenced you?

I may not have the specific person. But the ideas that influence me are mostly in the Avant-garde era and the artists in the Dadaism and Surrealism. I’m impressed with the works of Man Ray.

Progetti?

Ogni anno, ho programmi per i miei lavori, come ad esempio quest’anno è l’anno dello studio e d’imparare / quest’anno degli esperimenti o come quest’anno che è l’anno della trasformazione. La cosa più importante è che dobbiamo svilupparci per tutto il tempo…In realtà non ho un grande progetto per il tempo che rimane. Voglio solo un piccolo spazio per fare il mio lavoro o ospitare qualche piccola officina.

Projects?

In each year, I plan for my works, such as this year is the year of study and learn / this year is the year of experiment or in this current year is the year of transformation. The most important thing is that we should develop ourselves all the times .. In fact I don’t have a large project for the remaining time. I just want a small space to do my photographic work, or host some small workshop.
