IWC portoghese, un orologio brillante! IWC portuguese, a brilliant watch!

Bensvegliati e buona domenica! Oggi vi parlo di qualcosa di cui volevo scrivere da un po'...Hi guys! Today something I wanted to speak about from some time...
Parliamo del Portoghese dell' IWC, un grande classico degli orologi. Ma la cosa innovatina in questo post è che, per la prima volta, non solo vi descrivo un orologio che mi piace, ma che anche ho! Purtroppo una parte del movimento (probabilmente il bilanciere) si è rotta, e la dobbiamo riparare.
We' re speakin' about the IWC Portuguese, a great classic of watches. But the intresting thing is that I don't only like this watch, I have it! Unlukily a part of the movement, maybe the balance wheel, is broken, and we' ve to repair it!
Il portoghese risale alla fine degli anni '30 (1939): lo vediamo anche dalle cifre squadrate ma dalle lancette così eleganti ed esili, che creano una contrapposizione tra loro e questo orologio massiccio che mi piace molto.
Il Portogallo è sempre stato terra di navigatori e, nonostante negli anni '40 fosse in declino, è grazie a due di loro, portoghesi, che abbiamo l' orologio.
The Portuguese dates form the end of the '30s (1939): we can see it from the the figures' form, but also from the hands, so elegant and slim, that create a contrast, between them and and the big dimension of the wacth, I like a lot. Portugal has always been a land of sailors and, although in '40s it was a faltering nation, is thanks to 2 of them that we have the watch.
I mercanti Rodrigues e Texeira (quest’ultimo discendente dell’omonimo famoso navigatore), si presentarono alla IWC di Sciaffusa con una richiesta insolita: un orologio da polso in acciaio con le stesse qualità di un orologio da osservazione, per navigare. Nacque così il portoghese, uno dei primi orologi oversized, a cui di sicuro dobbiamo la storia di questa moda, come per i Panerai.
Insomma: un pezzo di storia orologiera!
The Merchants Rodrigues and Texeira (as the famous sailor) went to the IWC in Schaffhausen with a strange and curious request: a wristwatch that had to be very accurate, to navigate. So it was born the Portuguese, one of the first oversized watches, that gave birth to this trend, with Panerai.
A piece of watches history!
Qualche caratteristica: Movimento Valjoux modificato, lancette a foglia, numeri arabi in rilievo, contatori incavati per i secondi continui e minuti, che lo rendono un orologio anche molto pratico da leggere per gli imbranati come me!
Some feature: Valjoux modified movement, leaf (I hope in english you say so, italian is "Lancette a foglia", relief number and other things I really don't know how to translate but that make this watch so easy to read also for a wimpish like me!
