La Rosa del Farmacista / The Apothecary Rose and the city of York!

Dear Tatina!! How cute should have been your birthday dinner in a famous restaurant! I understand you perfectly, it would be the same for me, and I'm sure you won't forget that day so easyly. It's been a luxury dinner for you two, and this is what makes it more exciting and faboulous: you can enjoy more something you cannot afford everyday, can't you?Talking about me, once again I fell into my memories about our super weekend. I didn't mean it, but I started reading this book -The Apotecary Rose- which is set... in York!! Oh yes, a really interesting medieval thriller, that involves the reader since the first page, and for me it was even more special: I really could imagine the places where the carachters acted. It was like dipping into the tale, being part of the main carachters. I felt like I was Owen Archer's man Friday, following this ex archer chief investigating about two murders, on behalf of the Archbishop. I visited with him St. Mary's Abbey, the crime scene. I walked through the "gates" (that's how they call the streets) with Lucie Wilton, the apotecary's wife, who's replacing him while he's ill in bed, since that day when the pilgrim-with-no-name was killed. And I followed Potter Digby too, trying to understand his real purposes: good or evil. I crossed Ouse and Foss rivers many times, looking for evidence and clues, finding more and more burning details...
And this happend while, back to present times, I was walking with you, Stu, and Laura through the narrow gates, glancing at shops, Christmas stands and decorations, looking for some warm shop which could repair us from the chilly wind, finding nice pubs where enjoy our Sunday Roast, and ending our tiring day in a Starbucks, drinking hot latte and savouring lemon muffins! Sometimes it was like the two worlds were mixing up, and while looking at the pictures we took that day, I can almost see nice Bess, walking to her guest house, after meeting her best friend, Lucie.
CHARMING: this is the right definition for York, with its magnificent Cathedral, its small streets, full of shops and pubs, the nice medieval houses, the striking Shuffle quarter. It's got a misterious and fascinating atmosphere and... you know what? When we went there together, it was my first time... but not the least!
