LOVE SONGS – CANZONI D’AMORE
What’s better than music to talk about love? Only romance novels, perhaps ;-)
Tender and romantic, or funny and witty, sad, passionate, aggressive or sensual.. there are thousands of shades in songs, for thousands of different feelings; videoclips help expressing them so well that often you cannot think of one without the other.
And here we are with the monthly videoclip of one of our favourite love songs. Enjoy !

Canzoni tenere e romantiche, oppure buffe e divertenti, tristi o appassionate, aggressive o sensuali… ci sono mille sfumature musicali, per mille sentimenti diversi; ed i video aiutano ad esprimerle, completandole così bene che spesso canzone e video sono tanto collegati tra loro da non riuscire più a pensare all’una senza l’altro.
Ed ecco, anche questo mese, il videoclip di una delle nostre canzoni d’amore preferite. Buon ascolto!

"Somebody"- Depeche Mode
from the album “ Some Great Reward” (1984)

Somebody is the third single released from the album Some Great Reward in October 1984, and is the first one sung exclusively by Martin Gore, whose sweet and melodious voice is suitable to poignant and sad ballads like this song. Martin started as keyboardist with Depeche Mode, but after Vince Clark’s pull-out, he became the official composer and was helped later by Alan Wilder in sounds’ development. We remind that Dave Gahan is the frontman and official singer of the band.
The single’s video we present today , was shot this year on February, during Depeche Mode’s concert for charity at London Royal Albert Hall. Alan Wilder himself accompanies Martin Gore on piano,during the performance of Somebody, a memorable appearance with the band since Alan left  Depeche Mode in 1995 never rejoining them. It has been a suffered decision, gained because of  several problems that afflicted the band such as: alcohol, drugs and depression in the early 90’s at the height of their career. Though the difficulties and after a 25 –year honoured career, Depeche Mode today fill the stadiums during their concerts  and are on the top of  international hit- parade.

N.B. As an exception, in this post we present you a live performance in order to emphazise the music rather than the videoclip. So, close your eyes and let yourself be carried away....

Somebody è il terzo singolo uscito nell’ottobre del 1984 dell’album Some Great Reward  e  il primo ad essere cantato esclusivamente da Martin Gore, la cui voce dolce e melodiosa si presta bene  a ballate struggenti e malinconiche come questa canzone. Martin  ha iniziato la sua carriera come tastierista dei Depeche Mode, ma ne diventò  il compositore subito dopo l’abbandono del gruppo da parte di  Vince Clark, e fu  affiancato negli anni a seguire da Alan Wilder per quanto riguarda la creazione dei suoni. Dave Gahan, lo ricordiamo, è il frontman e cantante ufficiale della band.
Il video che vi proponiamo di questo singolo, è stato girato nel febbraio di quest’anno durante il concerto che i Depeche Mode hanno tenuto per beneficienza al Royal Albert Hall di Londra. Ad accompagnare Martin al pianoforte durante l’esecuzione di Somebody, c’è proprio Alan Wilder, in una storica apparizione con la band dopo che lasciò il gruppo nel 1995,  senza mai  più riunirsi a loro. Una decisione travagliata quella di Alan, maturata alla luce dei problemi di alcol, droga e depressione, che attanagliarono la band all’apice del successo nei primi anni 90. Nonostante ciò, e dopo venticinque anni di onorata carriera, i Depeche Mode ancora oggi riempiono gli stadi durante i loro concerti e scalano le vette delle classifiche internazionali.
N.B. In questa occasione, e in via del tutto eccezionale, nel proporvi un'esecuzione dal vivo, abbiamo posto l'accento sulla musica più che sul videoclip, . Quindi, chiudete e gli occhi e lasciatevi trasportare....
