Quest'anno a Londra, sono stata con Giacomo - per caso - al mercatino di Picadilly. E' davvero minuscolo, ci saranno più o meno dieci bancarelle in tutto, la maggior parte delle quali occupate da associazioni di beneficenza. E' piccolo ma delizioso e Giacomo ha comprato un calendario dell'avvento davvero bello (non avevate un calendario dell'avvento quando eravate piccoli? com'era il vostro? è una cosa che da piccola adoravo!!).
Io ho trovato un'altra bancarella di timbri, tenuta da un signore molto simpatico che mi ha conquistata in cinque minuti dicendomi che il mio accento inglese era eccezionale (nonostante non ci creda, mi ha fatto molto piacere ugualmente).

Fatto sta che volevo comprare un timbro anche per mia sorella, la quale mi invidiava la mia C presa a Greenwich. Allora ho visto una B con accanto disegnata una bambina con tratti un po' vintage e ho pensavo che le sarebbe piaciuta. Noi noto che c'erano tutte le lettere dello stesso carattere della mia C e decido di comprare la S anche (per Costanza Saglio). Allora chiedo al signore se me le mostra stampate una accanto all'altra, spiegandogli che la C la possedevo già. Il signore allora mi chiede dove l'avevo trovata e glielo spiego. Beh, il signore di Greenwich era suo fratello!!! Il mondo è piccolo :).In ogni caso, la S mi è piaciuta quasi più della C, voi che ne dite?

Well this year in London, I was with Giacomo - by chance - at the Picadilly market. It's very tiny, there might be more or less ten stalls, most of which were occupied by charities. It's a small but lovely market and Giacomo bought a really nice advent calendar (did you have an advent calendar where you were a child? how yours was looking like? It's something that I've always loved so much!).


I found another stall that was selling print blocks, held by a very kind gentleman that seduced me in five minutes telling me that my English accent was great (although I do not believe it, I was very happy anyway).
The fact is that I wanted to buy a stamp for my sister, because she envied my C taken at Greenwich. Then I saw a B with a drawing of a girl on the side, in vintage style. I thought that she would liked it.In addiction I noted that there were all the letters by the same font of my C and I decide to buy the S too (for Costanza Saglio). Then I explained to the gentleman that I already have the C. The Lord then asked me where I found it and I explained where I bought it. Well, the Lord from Greenwich was his brother!!! Small small world:).Anyway, I liked almost S than C, how about you?

In più ho scoperto poi che la B per mia sorella con la bambina accanto la aveva ricamata mia mamma tale e quale per la sua nascita e ce l'ha appesa sopra al letto, ma saranno 15 anni che non ci faccio più caso. Pazzesco no?

Non finisce qui: alla bancarella dei timbri ho preso anche una strana polvere d'oro che, a contatto con l'inchiostro fresco, si ferma su di esso. Dopodichè se lo si scalda con un lampada, si crea una patina dorata che dà l'effetto di un timbro con la cera lacca in negativo (se sulla ceralacca il timbro sarebbe concavo, qui è ovviamente convesso). Beh il risultato è eccezionale.
It's not all: at the stall of the stamps I also bought a strange gold dust, which in contact with fresh ink, stops on it. Then if it is heated with a lamp, it creates a golden layer that gives the effect of a wax seal by the negative (if the wax seal stamp would be concave, here is convex, of course). Well the result is outstanding.

Pensavo di iniziare una serie di post su quelle che credo possano essere idee carine per Natale, indicando negozi e posti interessanti da visitare durante la caccia al regalo. Purtroppo saranno soprattutto luoghi tra Milano e Torino, ma cercherò di spaziare il più possibile. Saranno ordinati sotto il tag 'Christmas Hunter'.
