8 ore di minibus da Kaula Besut per raggiungere il Taman Negara, il Parco Nazionale più famoso della Malesia, fondato nel 1938/1939. La sua estensione è di 4343 km².

Nonostante possa sembrare tanto, il viaggio passa velocemente. È prevista anche una piacevole sosta per il pranzo in un ristorante dove con 10 RM potrete mangiare a volontà!
Il nostro programma originario prevedeva il viaggio di notte sul Jungle train. Tuttavia per questioni di tempo, di comodità e di prezzo abbiamo optato per questa soluzione che dalle Perhentian è assolutamente la più conveniente.
Si parte la mattina alle 10 e si arriva nella giungla intorno alle 19:30 circa. Il biglietto potete acquistarlo direttamente sull’isola, dal vostro albergo, vi costerà anche meno (RM).
Traveller’s home (http://www.travellershome.com.my/travellers_home.asp ) è stata una delle migliori sistemazioni dove abbiamo alloggiato.
Although it may seem like a long trip, it passes quickly. There is also a nice stop for lunch at a restaurant where you can eat with 10 RM at will!
Our original plan provided for the overnight journey on the Jungle train. However, for reasons of time, comfort and price we opted for this solution that starting from the Perhentian islands is absolutely the most convenient.
The bus leaves at 10 am and arrives in the jungle around 19:30 or so. The ticket can be purchased directly on the island, from your hotel, it will cost even less (RM).

Vi consigliamo vivamente di prenderla in considerazione, ne vale la pena. Qualità/prezzo ottima, i costi delle casette sono assolutamente abbordabili. Noi abbiamo scelto l’appartamento indipendente (50€ a notte con colazione). Lo staff vi accoglierà in maniera calorosa facendovi sentire a casa. La cena, ovviamente cucina locale, è offerta da loro e sarà un’ottima occasione per condividere la propria esperienza anche con gli altri viaggiatori.
We strongly suggest you consider this accomodation, it’s worth it. The prices are absolutely affordable. We chose the apartment (50 € per night with breakfast). The staff offers a warm welcome and makes you feel at home. The dinner is offered by them. You’ll taste the local cuisine and share this experience with other travellers.
Purtroppo il nostro soggiorno è stato molto breve, quindi abbiamo cercato di fare e di vedere le cose essenziali e più rappresentative del posto. Prima tappa, immancabile trekking nella giungla comprensivo di attraversata dei famosi canopy walkway!
Unfortunately we stayed there for very short time, so we tried to do and see the essential things and the most representative of the place. First of all we did the jungle trekking including the famous canopy walkway!
Iniziamo subito dicendo che nonostante le numerose raccomandazione della guida sul tipo di abbigliamento adatto per affrontare la giungla, noi ci siamo fidate della gente del posto e abbiamo optato per scarpe da ginnastica, pantaloni corti e magliettina. Diciamo anche che il problema sanguisughe non ci ha direttamente interessante perché non avendo piovuto per un bel po’, non c’era pericolo di incontrarle.
In ogni caso, prima di partire fate una bella colazione e portatevi parecchia acqua perché, una volta dentro, si muore davvero di caldo.
Avendo poco tempo a disposizione ci siamo affidate ad un tour organizzato. Niente male, ma sicuramente è meglio avventurarsi da soli. Nella giungla del Borneo…come racconteremo più avanti, abbiamo optato per il fai da te, scegliendo un trekking di un’ora e mezza…e siamo sopravvissute!!!
La giungla di per se non è pericolosa, non aspettatevi di vedere animali perché così non sarà, semmai giusto qualche insetto.
Let’s start by saying that despite the numerous advises of the guidance about the type of clothing suitable to go in the jungle, we trusted in the locals and we opted for sneakers, shorts and T-shirt. We have also to say that the problem of the leeches there wasn’t because not having rained for a while there was no danger to meet them.
In any case, before leaving, have a nice breakfast and bring a lot of water because, once inside, you feel really hot!
Having little time we chosen an organized tour. Not bad, but surely it is better to venture alone. In the jungle of Borneo … as we will tell you later, we opted for do it by ourselves, choosing a trek of an hour and a half … and we survived!
The jungle itself is not dangerous, do not expect to see animals …just a few bugs.
Quello che invece dovete ammirate sono le diverse specie di piante, fittissime ed altissime.
Instead, what you have to admire are the different species of plants, dense and very high.
Gli alberi in Malesia crescono ininterrottamente, non procedono a cicli come i nostri. Fate caso all’interno dei tronchi, non troverete gli strati della crescita. Sarà tutto compatto! Anche per questo motivo sono così alti.
The trees grow continuously in Malaysia, they don’t go in cycles like ours. Pay attention to the logs, you will not find layers of growth. It will all be compact! This is also why they are so high.
Un’altra curiosità sono le radici…occhio a dove mettete i piedi, vi capiterà di trovarvi davanti veri e propri grovigli.

Il quartier generale è Kuala Tahan, lì troverete strutture ricettive a vostra disposizione, ristorantini galleggianti ed agenzie per ogni tipo di tour. Una volta arrivati, ricordatevi, prima di iniziare il tour, di recarvi al tourist office per pagare la tassa di ingresso.
The headquarters is in Kuala Tahan, there you will find a lot of accommodations, floating restaurants and agencies for any type of tour. Once there, remember, before starting the tour, you have to go to the tourist office to pay the entrance fee.

Concluded the jungle trek, we decided to go back to Jerantut with a cruise along the river which in 2 hours got us to Kuala Tembeling. There, in Jerantut, we waited for the bus direct to KL (45 min. – 5 RM, you should purchase it directly when you buy one of the boat – the bus Jerantut – KL: RM 18.60 /3 h). Beware of agencies, some will tell you that there are only tour in the afternoon while others only in the morning. It is not true, in Kuala Tahan there are several, some organized only in the morning, others also at 14:00. We have choosen the LBK Floating Restaurant, the last floating house after Mama Chop and theLiana hostel.

We chose the Sarawak and in particular Kuching using it as a base for touring the whole area.
Rispetto alla Malesia pensinsulare il Borneo è decisamente più selvaggio ed affascinante.
Offre parecchie attrazioni, parchi nazionali, giungla, grotte….ognuna di esse vi permetterà di conoscere in maniera vera questo splendido paese.
Iniziamo subito dal raccontarvi qualcosa di Kuching…
Compared to Malaysia Pensinsulare the Borneo is much more wild and fascinating.
It offers several attractions, national parks, jungle, caves ….
Let’s start to tell you something about Kuching…
Capoluogo dello Stato del Sarawak è la città più popolosa del Borneo ed è veramente affascinante. Crogiuolo di etnie diverse, è divisa in due dall’omonimo fiume Sarawak…che crea, soprattutto di notte, un’atmosfera magica.
Capital of the State of Sarawak, Kuching is the most populous city in Borneo and it is really fascinating. Hearth of different ethnic groups, it is divided into two from the river Sarawak … that creates, especially at night, a magical atmosphere.
In origine il Sarawak faceva parte dello Stato del Brunei, successivamente passò sotto la dominazione inglese e nel 1963 ottenne l’indipendenza dalla corona inglese, divenendo parte della Federazione malese.
Kuching è nota anche come la “città dei gatti”. Questo infatti è il significato esatto del suo nome, a testimonianza del quale, all’ingresso della città, si trova un enorme gatto di ceramica bianca…davvero kitsch!!! Numerose altre statue di gatti potrete trovarle nelle piazze, così come il museo appositamente dedicato ai felini.
Originally the Sarawak was part of the State of Brunei, subsequently came under British rule in 1963 and it gained its independence from the British crown, becoming part of the Malaysian Federation.
Kuching is also known as the “city of cats.” Cat is the exact meaning of its name, and, at the entrance of the city, there is a huge white cat … very kitsch! You can find several other statues of cats in the streets, as well as the museum dedicated to cats..
Al di là del fiume scorgerete l’Astana, il palazzo del governatore, costruito nel 1870 dal Raja bianco come regalo alla moglie. Purtroppo non è possibile visitarlo, vi dovrete limitare ad ammiraro dalle sponde del fiume.
Beyond the river you will see the Astana, the governor’s palace, built in 1870 by the white Raja as a gift to his wife. Unfortunately you can not visit it, you can only admire it from the banks of the river.
Poco distante dal palazzo, sorge un’altra curiosa struttura, dalla forma un po’ stravagante.
Si tratta del Parlamento del Sarawak.
Not far from the palace, there is another curious structure with the shape a bit eccentric.
This is the Parliament of Sarawak.
Il fiume Kuching divide la città in due parti ben distinte.
The Kuching river divides the city into two distinct parts.
La parte nord della città è popolata prevalentemente da malesi, quella sud, invece, ospita un gran numero di cinesi.
Anche qui, infatti, troverete l’immancabile quartiere di ChinaTown.
The northern part of the city is populated predominantly by Malays, the south, however, home to a large number of Chinese.
Here too, you will find the inevitable ChinaTown district.

Il primo, proprio di fronte al nostro hotel: Tua Pek Kong, il tempio più frequentato dai residenti cinesi in città.
In Chinatown there are many beautiful temples to visit.
The first, just in front of our hotel is the Tua Pek Kong, the temple most frequented by Chinese residents in the city.
Il secondo: Hong San Si Temple, il più bel tempio cinese di Kuching, risalente al 1840 circa e restaurato del tutto nel 2003.
The second, the Hong San Si Temple, is the most beautiful Chinese temple in Kuching, dating back to around 1840 and completely restored in 2003.
Infine il terzo: Siang Ti Mao anch’esso sfarzoso e sgargiante come gli altri.
Finally, the third: the You Siang Mao also glitzy and flashy as the others.
La sera abbiamo mangiato da Top Spot, una specie di grande mercato pieno di bancarelle pronte a cucinarvi di tutto. La gran parte vi servirà pesce…scegliete, pesate e mangiate a volontà. I prezzi sono decisamente bassi…il cibo buono…la pulizia…forse lascia un po’ a desiderare…ma basta non pensarci!!
In the evening we ate at Top Spot, a kind of big market filled with stalls ready to cook everything. Most of them will serve you fish … you have only to choose, weigh and eat it at will. The prices are very low … good food … about cleaning, mmm….no comment… … the secret is just do not think about it!

Da Kuching è facilissimo raggiungere alcune delle tante attrazioni presenti nel territorio circostante. La nostra prima scelta è ricaduta sul Semenggoh Wildlife Centre, una riserva naturale a soli 25 km da Kuching e raggiungibile con un semplice bus (n° K6).
From Kuching is easy to get to some of the many attractions in the surrounding area. Our first choice was the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre, a nature reserve just 25 km from Kuching and reached simple by a bus (n ° K6).
L’attrazione principale sono i 26 oranghi che la abitano e che i visitatori possono ammirare in piena libertà…tra una fune e l’altra alla ricerca di cibo.
Vi consigliamo di recarvi lì negli orari dei pasti, alle 9 o alle 15. In tal modo avrete senz’altro la possibilità di avvistarli. Il biglietto di ingresso costa 10 RM a persona.
Una volta dentro potrete addentarvi da soli, il percoso è abbastanza ovvio, difficle perdersi.
Lungo la strada arrivere nel punto più adatto all’avvistamento. Ve ne accorgerete facilmente dalla gente! Il personale del parco, in ogni caso, vi condurrà negli angoli migliori per ammirare i primati.
Noi siamo state fortunate, ne abbiamo visti parecchi saltare da un ramo all’altro, mangiare banane e giocare tra loro.
Il colore rossiccio è fantastico…la postura, le espressioni del volto meravigliose…

The main attraction are the 26 orangutans that live there completely in freedom between ropes in search of food.
We advise you to go there in the times of meals, at 9:00 am or 15:00 pm. In this way you will certainly have the opportunity to see them. The ticket costs RM 10 for person.
Once inside you can go alone, the ritch is quite obvious, difficult lose yourself.
Along the way you’ll arrive in the best sighting. The park staff, however, will take you over the best points to see the primates.
We were lucky, we saw many of them jumping from branch to branch, eating bananas and playing with each other.
Their reddish color is fantastic … the posture, the expressions wonderful …

Tornate a Kuching ne approfittiamo per visitare quello che ancora ci manca da vedere. Iniziamo per prima cosa dalla moschea della città, costruita negli anni ’60 sul sito che in origine ospitava una moschea ottocentesca di legno. Le cupole dorate spiccano in mezzo al rosa delle pareti dell’edificio.
Return to Kuching we visited what still missing to see. We started from the first mosque in the city, built in the ’60s on the site, which originally housed a mosque nineteenth-century wood. The golden domes stand in the middle of the pink walls of the building.
Da lì, impossibile non fare una piccola sosta anche a Little India.
From there, it is impossible not to make a short stop also in Little India.
Il giorno successivo, sveglia alle ore 7:20 e partenza per il Baco National Park.
Fortunatamente la fermata del bus si trova a pochi passi dal nostro hotel e ci risparmia la traversata fino alla stazione centrale. Noi abbiamo alloggiato al Singgahsana Lodge (http://www.singgahsana.com/) favoloso!
Il bus è il n°1 ed il costo del biglietto è di 3,50 RM, solo andata. Ci impiegherà circa un’ora per raggiungere Bako Bazaar. Una volta lì dovrete prendere una barchina che in 20 minuti vi portera al Bako Head Quarter (90 RM A/R – vi consigliamo in bus o lungo la strada di trovare già qualcuno con cui dividerla, considerate un max di 4 persone a barca). Prima di scendere, ricordatevi di mettervi d’accordo con il taxi boat driver per l’ora del ritorno. Considerate che l’ultimo bus per Kuching è alle 17:15 (in agosto). Noi ci siamo fatte venire a prendere al jetty alle 16:00; il pomeriggio si alza di molto la marea, la barchina non vi potrà venire a prendere dove vi ha lasciato all’andata.
Al Vostro arrivo all’Head Quarter…il paesaggio vi lascerà senza fiato…
The next day, we woke up at 7:20 am and took off for the Baco National Park.
Fortunately, the bus stop was just a few steps from our hotel and saved us from the trip to the central station. We stayed at the Lodge Singgahsana (http://www.singgahsana.com/) Fabulous!
The bus is the No. 1 and the cost of the ticket is RM 3.50 one way. It will take about an hour to reach Bako Bazaar. Once there you have to take a small boat that will take you 20 minutes to the Head Quarter of Bako National Park (90 RM A/R – we recommend you to find someone on the bus or along the way to share the price of the boat, max of 4 people for boat). Before going down, remember to make arrangements with the boat driver for the time of your return. Consider that the last bus to Kuching is at 17:15 pm (in August). We have choose to take the boat at 16:00 pm. In the afternoon the tide rises significantly and the small boats can’t picked up you where they left you in the morning. You have to waiting for them at the jetty.
Upon your arrival the Head Quarter … the scenery will leaves you breathless …

Prima di prendere la barchina dovrete anche pagare l’ingresso al Parco di 10 RM a persona.

Senza guida, seguendo solo il percorso giallo, perfettamente segnalato, ci addentriamo nella giungla del Borneo!

L’ultimo giorno nel Borneo passa all’insegna del brutto tempo e coincide con l’inizio della festa di fine Ramadam.
L’unica cosa da fare, considerando che era tutto chiuso è stata quella di andare a visitare il Sarawak Cultural Village, nella Peninsula di Santunbong (Damai).
Per arrivare prendiamo la navetta dell’hotel (20 RM a/r – 30/40 min.). Una volta lì, l’ingresso è di 60 RM comprensivo di show e di visita alle diverse tipologie di case malesi.
The last day in Borneo was rained and coincided with the end of Ramadan.
The only thing to do, considering that everything was closed, was to go visit the Sarawak Cultural Village, in the Peninsula of Santunbong (Damai).
To get there we took the hotel’s shuttle (20 RM a / r – 30/40 min.). Once there, the entrance was 60 RM including the show and the visit to different types of houses in Malaysia.

I Bidayuh costituisco l’8,3% della popolazione del Sarawak. Vivono nella parte sud-ovest, nell’area compresa tra Kuching e Samarahn. La loro tradizionale religione era l’animismo, ma oggi molti di loro sono cristiani.
The Bidayuh formerly known as Land Dayaks account for 8,3% of Sarawak’s population. They live in South-West Sarawak, in the Kuching and Samarahn Divisions. Their traditional religion is animism, but today many Bidayuh are Christians.
2° tipologia di abitazione: quella dei Rumah Orang-Ulu
Second type of home: that of Rumah Orang – Ulu
Conosciuti anche con il nome di “tribù dei fiumi”, gli Orang-Ulu costituiscono il 5,5% della popolazione del Sarawak e comprendono oltre 100.000 tribù diverse tra loro.
Sono la popolazione più dedita all’arte come si può facilmente evincere dalle splendide longhouse finemente intagliate e decorate con pitture tribali.
Le donne degli Orang-Ulu, inoltre, sono famose per i loro tatuaggi. Più ne possiedono e più vengono considerate valide, piene di capacità.
Known also as the “tribes of the rivers,” the Orang Ulu-rapresent the 5.5% of the Sarawak’s population and include over 100,000 different tribes together.
They are more devoted to the art than other populations and this can be easily seen from the beautiful longhouse finely carved and decorated with tribal paintings.
The women of the Orang Ulu-are also famous for their tattoos. Who more have tattos, is more valid and full of capacity.
