Martin Parr ha fregato anche me perchè alla fine ho ceduto e ho comprato un suo libro.

Martin Parr has cheated me too because in the end I gave up and bought one of his books.

Io ero quella che:
- Bho, io non lo capisco
- Retorica a parte, mi sembrano foto scattate a caso
- Va bene tutto ma un minimo di senso estetico…
- È il soggetto che risulta ironico, non la foto in sè
Mi sbagliavo. Non avevo uno sguardo abbastanza “laico”. Non comprendevo la sua coerenza, la sua assenza di giudizio, la sua capacità di mostrare pezzi di società per quello che sono.
Perchè essere esteti, eleganti, sofisticati quando ciò che ti circonda è mediocre, banale, sciatto?
Turisti, dandy, “strappone”: non manca nessuno al Carnevale del 21° secolo. E poi il cibo: coloratissimo, ipercalorico, consumato (più che mangiato) più per noia (che per necessità). Mi pare di sentire odore di frittelle e avere le dita unte mentre sfoglio le pagine di questo libro. E non sono i soggetti: è il fotografo che mi permette di viverle così.
Il libro lo vedete, l’editore è Contrasto.

- Everything is fine but just a minimum of aesthetic sense…
- It’s the subject which is ironic, not the photo by itself
I was wrong. I had not a “laical” look enough. I didn’t understand his consistency, his lack of judgment, his ability to show parts of society for what they are.
Why to be aesthetic, elegant, sophisticated when everything around is mediocre, banal, sloppy?
Tourists, dandy, tacky women: no one misses in the Carnival of the 21st century. And then food: colorful, high-calorie, consumed (rather than eat) for boredom (more than necessity). I feel like I smell pancakes and I have greasy fingers, while leafing through the pages of this book. And they are not the subject: the photographer allows me to live them this way.
