Mr Chow

Rientro a New York, dopo uno strano pomeriggio passato a Jersey City.
Mi ritrovo a Christopher Street, ma l’atmosfera del Village non è delle migliori.
Così, camminando in direzione sud, finisco in quel di Tribeca.

Si è fatto tardi ed il mio stomaco reclama un pasto decente.
Valuto diverse alternative e alla fine opto per un ristorante cinese moderno e di gran classe: Mr Chow.

Mi viene il dubbio che, conciato così come sono, difficilmente mi faranno entrare, ma il bello di New York è anche questo.
Un cameriere vestito e pettinato di tutto punto, mi scorta ad un tavolo sulla veranda.
La serata è calda ma ventilata. Si sta bene veramente.

Il cibo è superiore alle mie più rosee aspettative. Capesante in salsa leggermente piccante, ravioli al vapore ripieni di sogliola ed un fantastico piatto di gamberoni con verdure, accompagnati da riso bianco.
La pacifica notte di Tribeca, è stata una compagna più che perfetta.

I came back to New York, after a strange afternoon in Jersey City.
I arrived in Christopher Street, but the atmosphere in the Village is not that good.
So, walking along Greenwich Street, I ended up in Tribeca.

It’s late and I’m starving.
I check a couple of places and I find this modern and classy Chinese restaurant: Mr Chow.

I think that, dressed as I am, they won’t let me in, but New York is a surprising city.
A very elegant waiter, takes me to a table on the veranda.
The evening is warm but breezy.

The food is beyond my wildest expectations. Scallop in slightly spicy sauce, steamed stuffed sole dumplings and a fabulous plate of shrimp with vegetables, served with plain rice.
The peaceful Tribeca’s night was a perfect companion to me.
